Why would you expect better then? They said it has reached parity, not exceeded.

Speach recognition was such a holy grail back in the day, and yet, when it became really usable, we just dropped it.
Seems we prefer to use a keyboard and mouse after all.

What for, dictation? I know disabled people like the command and control a lot, heck, it gives them access to the net, who wouldn't like it, but for general use I haven't seen it since the late 90s.

Scientists Accidentally Discover Efficient Process to Turn CO2 Into Ethanol[^]
Quote: The process is cheap, efficient, and scalable, meaning it could soon be used to remove large amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Scientists at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee have discovered a chemical reaction to turn CO2 into ethanol, potentially creating a new technology to help avert climate change. Their findings were published in the journal ChemistrySelect. Excellent. Now we can spew vast amounts...

I already knew that, funny it took scientists this long.
Step one, grow sugar canes...

Well, I think their process is a bit quicker than that.

Pff, details.

As slow as the 'sugar cane->yeast->distillation->alcohol' process is, it is very simple, has been implemented in all parts of the world and produces a useful by product, Mojito!

Ethanol.
That would be the primary constituent in vodka, gin, etc., wouldn't it?
Heaven on Earth!

And for that reason the govt will quash it and just raise taxes....

Depends on what kind of ethanol...

Ethanol, known also as ethyl alcohol, has the chemical formula C2-H6-O.
There are other kinds of alcohol such as methyl alcohol, etc. however, ethanol is the drinkable alcohol.

Ethanol is a colourless tasteless liquid.
Vodka and gin are examples of almost pure ethanol. Gin is flavoured with juniper berries I believe but Nagy Vilmos should be the authority on that. Palatability of whiskey and wine are due to various contaminants/components found in them which also contribute to the hangover.
Methanol is not drinkable because it is actually poisonous. Hundreds die every year from methanol poisoning in poorer countries such as India, Bangladesh, Philippines, etc., from poorly made country liquor in which methanol is a constituent.
Other alcohols such as iso-propyl alcohol are used for external use only. Isopropyl alcohol is sold in the US as 'rubbing alcohol'.

If they're successful, we just might see large-scale carbon capture using this technique in the near future.
Except what do you with the ethanol. Why, you burn it, creating CO2 again!
(Well, I guess, reading the other post, you can drink it. Maybe that's how we scrub the atmosphere of carbon. 6 billion drunkards!)
