Nah! Say it isn't so!
And every deadline I've seen has been artificially touted as being world-ending and ended-up not being world-ending.

Woe the developer that complains about software quality, the same developer that when given unlimited time produced unlimited garbage. I laugh in the face of such whining, as the reality is that the better the software quality, the more likely you will meet deadlines, and thus they are realisitic deadlines. Much as developers want to whine about deadlines, the fact of the matter is, most deadlines are unrealistic because the code base never saw the light of "quality" to begin with.
An unrealistic deadline, in my opinion, is simply that there's too much work to be done given the allotted time. Software quality should not suffer if software quality actually exists, and if software quality exists, it's not the driving factor for an unrealistic deadline measure.

In my opinion, there's no excuse for poor quality.

<Devil's Advocate>
At the same time, there are a lot of different opinions on code quality from a lot of different developers, few of them compatible with each other, which are emphatically and loudly declared as absolute necessities.
When managing a software project, it can be extremely difficult to determine who is crying wolf.

Testing is essential but it's secondary. Sorry. But it means I can do twice as much software development!
Maybe if I did some unit tests for my unit tests?
I was going to go with "OK Boomer", but I resemble that remark.

Quote: Microsoft is promoting this not just as a Windows desktop alternative, but as a path forward for die-hard Windows 7 users. As Brad Anderson, corporate vice president for Microsoft 365 wrote:
"With the end of extended support for Windows 7 coming in January 2020, we also understand some customers need to continue to support Windows 7 legacy applications as they migrate to Windows 10. To support this need, you can use Windows Virtual Desktop to virtualize Windows 7 desktops with free Extended Security Updates (ESU) until January 2023."
I'm going to make a prediction. 3 years from now when ESU ends:
0) Anyone who drank the koolaid is going to discover that whatever legacy crap prevented them from migrating now still will block migration then.
1) MS will do a hard shutdown of their W7 VM program.
2) Getting new local W7 installs up and running will be a cluster- because MS will take down not only their install images but the patching servers needed to get fresh installs up to the OSes final state.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Mark Shannon posted a proposal "to impose a limit of one million on various aspects of Python programs, such as the lines of code per module". If you're arguing for that limit, I think you have a bigger problem
Hopefully the link works for everyone. I can't remember if they lock it down after a while or not (but it's working for me without any login)

At least limit the number of tabs on a single line to one million.
