Interestingly enough Wired appears to've just done some sort of backend refactor and removed their blocker blocker. Instead of the scorched earth shell I normally see for a few seconds before it goes into nag mode it loaded normally (read all the first party crap I nuked from their dumpsterfire of a page layout was unblocked); and it didn't kick me out when I went all Bomber Harris on it again.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Start with an actual response. The words, "No thank you" are sufficient. ("Go to hell!" also works, but getting NO response is just annoying.)

Open source is becoming the de facto software development model. Today every software company, especially in the enterprise space, is dealing with a massive amount of open source. And Microsoft is no exception. "Recent case studies (the Internet) provide very dramatic evidence that commercial quality can be achieved/exceeded by OSS projects."

The infamous Raspberry Pi compute board has built a loyal following that’s proving difficult even for companies such as Intel to compete with, but it could be set to gain even more fans as Microsoft is building an online simulator. Where do I plug it in then?

For developers that discover an issue or exploit in their applications, staying calm and assessing the situation is definitely a good place to start, but determining the level of severity will really determine what will happen next. "When in danger or in doubt, Run in circles, scream and shout."

Men who delay starting a family are more likely to have "geekier" sons, a study suggests. As the kids (supposedly) say these days, "I can't even"
I keep trying, but it just makes me sigh louder.

And I was thirty-five when my kid was born.

What a really dumb idea. I taught Programming at a college for two years, and I can tell you there are some folks that are as dumb as a bag of hammers who couldn't get past the intro course.
That's just what we need - more inept 'developers' in the mix.

I actually agree with it. I mean we teach calculus in high school and while that's not required things like geometry are. Computers are taking over the world like it or not. Schools should prepare kids for that. Does it mean our jobs will have to evolve too? Yes. But that's the way it is with every industry that's maturing. What people don't usually realize is devs got in on this at the bleeding edge of a new industry being created. One that is taking over the world. Things will change.
Now if we could only teach kids finances.

On the other hand, you might get some world class developers, who might not have chosen the computer field had it not been for that class that they really didn't want to take.
