Definitely a leap forward towards the stone age.

As far I see (also tried), it looks as a Windows 7 with a Windows 8 dress.
Nice features:
- the search box straight in the taskbar
- the multiple desktops view (I'd have some tip to make it more useful, though)
- the old "menu button" and no more crazy-pixel-sensitive-sidebars
- funny graphics, instead a more serious photo-realistic fashion
- Windows Metro/Store apps are running in normal windows
Worthwhile?
I don't know, but IMHO way more than a tablet or a phone...

As MySQL nears drinking age, Peter Zaitsev, CEO of Percona looks at the state of affairs in MySQL – security, data growth, Oracle and the new database kids on the block. "Maria! The most beautiful sound I ever heard"

This graph here[^] shows some interesting statistics of how well Oracle are doing "managing" MySQL.

Ouch
That's an ugly regression. A pity it only looks at relatively recent versions and doesn't show longer term trends. A friend of mine who's a MySQL DBA said he was 'pleasantly surprised' a year or three after whOracle first took over because they removed bottlenecks that were strangling scalability above 4 cores.

Yes, being fair that could be a temporary blip. Nonetheless, it does a bit a lie to the stability you'd expect coming from an "Enterprise Friendly" company like Oracle. You would expect their quality procedures to pick up something like that.

Given that Microsoft has a history of aggressively using software patents against free software, we decided to take a look at the legal details. There's no pleasing some people
|
|
|
|

If you live in the EU, for example, you don't have to give much about "software patents" anyways. As far as I know, you can't really patent software here, so who cares?

If you want to confine your market to the EU then no problem. But if you want to sell in the US, then you care.

I just came here to snark the same. Since at the point the article was written the author was pulling from the libraries development source and noted that the API was still undergoing significant improvement, I think the answer to that question is "probably".
