Pro Tip:
Go home at the end of the work day. Several times in my career I stayed late trying to solve a problem... staring at the screen... 12-18 hours... went home and slept and fixed it 15 minutes after arriving at work the next day after a good night sleep.

Which leads to the second half of my rant: it's actually Xbox (I just checked their official branding), but I've seen just about every combination: xBox, Xbox, XBox, XBOX (on the boxes to add extra confusion). They've never educated people about "the right" case for the silly name.
I have similar casing rants about .NET I might share in the future

The author evidently doesn't understand functional programming, so decides to slag it off.
IO is a monad. Monads were introduced by Haskell to allow a program to remain purely functional while actually things in the real world. Effectively, in this case, the state of the real world becomes a hidden parameter of the function.
