I agree that JAVA shouldn't take all the blame. Anyone using spaces where tabs are more appropriate is just wrong!

The simplest rule I follow is that if it comes after a paragraph mark or a tab, it's a tab. Otherwise, it's a space.

Does this metric just compare numSpaces to numTabs, or does it apply a scaling factor to account for a line indented entirely with spaces having several times more than a line indented entirely with tabs. (I've seen enough cluster elephants using a mix of both on one line to dismiss the possibility that they're counting space only lines vs tab only lines because a file with a mix of both won't be that cleanly differentiated.)

I find it interesting that the .c files get it right most of the time, but .h and .cpp files are wrong. I would think those three would be more in line with each other.

Sort of odd they're not even crediting Yann Collet, and that they're pretending that they're only just now releasing Zstandard as open source..
They released version 1.0 just now, which is nice, but that's not the impression the article tries to create.

LZ4 still blows this away. Through experience I've found that once you compromise on speed as much as Zstandard does, you may as well go all the way to LZMA.

On the other hand, phishers become much more professional writers nowadays. They almost coped with fooling me just yesterday. Their email was in clean German language (no more those strange automatic translations from whichever language), they showed my name and complete address (well, it's outdated now because I moved 3 months ago), and a phone number. But that number was my work phone number 11 years ago (when I lived at an other different place).
I still wonder where they got those data from: my employer at that time, or the unemployment office at that place (according to German law, I had to register there 3 month before my time-limited job ended), or something else - someone who updated my address after moving from that place, but not the phone number...
