That's how I felt about it as well. I wonder who it was that noticed this "problem" in the first place? My guess is Mac devs, as they are the only ones I can think of with many spare USB-C cables lying around.
Plus, they'd be too broke to pay for the official cable.

The static local functions could be useful, but I still prefer enclosing a using block variable in braces. I find this makes for eaier to understand code as it's obvious where the variable is being declared and what scope it has. It's scope is declared by the using block and is explicit. This way the scope is implicit so not as clear.

The scope for a using variable is the function or the enclosing block. Pretty simple and maybe enable more "C++ like" RAII
