El Reg:

That's still a saving of $20-30 on the normal annual subscription prices of $69.99 and $99.99 for Home and Personal but effectively a ten-fold increase in price on the old standalone program.

No, it's a much larger increase than that. Depending on when in the lifecycle you buy a permanent license you got 7-10 years of support for your $15, for an annual price of $1.50 to $2; that's a 35-65x increase in price.

And having committed the one unforgivable sin of a cloud storage provider, forcing users to delete data by reducing maximum allowed quota sizes, the maximum value I'm willing to assign to the Microsoft OneZeroDrive is nothing.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
--Zachris Topelius
