JavaScript is one of the most popular languages out today, who the hell thinks it's dead?
Java has been the most popular language on ranking sites for decades, why would it be dead?
In fact, the article states "it’s simply bizarre to suggest that Java is ‘dead’ or ‘dying’: it’s de facto the most widely used programming language on the planet" 
Same for C.
Perhaps the author does some wishful thinking and the title should be "3 programming languages that should've been dead, but definitely aren't"

Very popular in the 'nix community, but not a language that I seen many job ads for.
C is still the basis, so a bit nonsense to have it on the list, unless you target a non-tech audience who might actually be surprised.
VB6 should have made the list; still in use, even after Microsoft declared it dead years ago.

I'm probably not the best one to answer this as I don't mind it much. But the usual complaints are around it's lack of data types (and the sometimes weird coercion it does with them), and the prototype-based "inheritance".
