i am superstitious also but just the opposite . i liberaly use auto xyz = somthing; and insist on no parenthesis unless required after carefully studing the precedence chart which i do frequently .

I use auto a lot but I despise precedence and ALWAYS use parenthesis. I think the whole idea of operators having precedence is really stupid.

is it stupid because there is no logic from which the rules can be deduced making them arbitrary ?

That's one reason. Another is why should one operator have precedence over another? I can't think of a good reason.

Steve Raw wrote: the only one who likes to avoid using recursion
There are certainly cases where it makes sense since there is no expectation that the business would need more. And example is recursing on an asset tree which users work. There is of course no reason for a user to use a tree that is, for example, 1,000 deep.
But I still enforce it by passing a depth variable. I don't do that really due to users doing something silly but rather because developers (including me) doing something silly and producing an endless loop.

I do too. Makes it obvious to a maintainer what order I expected rather than leaving it up to them to verify every time it is looked at that the order represents what is actually needed.
Not to mention of course that doing it all the time means one does not get surprised by things like the precedence order for inline conditionals (question mark and colon). Which I have seen people get wrong.

The scale at my doctor's office talks. While waiting for my visit I heard it speaking - One Hundred Eighty Two pounds, One Hundred Twelve pounds, etc. When I stepped on it it said "one at a time please."

Yesterday, my Windows 10 laptop posted an alert for a potentially unwanted application - YTDVideoDownload. Interestingly, it's the first alert I've had in years on any of my machines. The only software I installed recently on the windows 10 machine is a Discord client. This morning, my Windows 11 laptop is reporting that it has the same application. The only thing that these two machines have in common is yesterday they both updated with the latest from Microsoft, and I run opera on both of them.
Nothing is in the installed s/w list, and I haven't added any plugins to the browsers, so I wonder how it just snuck in.

Quick search pulls up YouTube Downloader. Maybe it's a plugin in Opera?

well I've been digging deep there. Like in my starting post, the only thing I have installed is the discus client. Opera has not updated in a week (unless it got sucked in with the Windows update).
looking for other people that might have had this pop up.

You can rest assured MS or one of the big-wigs will never ship with something like that. There's too much money thrown around in the circle jerk that is big tech.

Oh Microsoft, please never change.
So on my Windows 11 laptop with this rogue chunk of code, I kicked off a full Windows Defender scan.... 17 hours ago. It appears to have hung. No cpu being consumed, etc. I think I'll download Malwarebytes, but really MS. You insist that weekly updates are necessary for security and your scanner hangs. Hmmm

In conclusion to my original post, this appears to be a false positive. I found it on two other machines (that were not complaining). I have other things to worry about.

Q: What's the difference between an atheist and a theist?
A: One thinks they're smarter with no proof the other thinks God is smarter and sees signs of it everywhere.

i encountred this video earlier today . i found it amusing . you might enjoy it also . as for me i have always beeen agnostic . i believe science in particular Physics will sooner or later settle the matter one way or the other . hower i now favor the method of Dr. Sheldon Cooper who states as best as i recall "God if you do in fact exist thank you for my wonderful life . if you do not exist never mind ."

BernardIE5317 wrote: as for me i have always beeen agnostic To me, there's more intelligence behind that than atheism - which is also a religion. I think most atheists confuse God with the flawed personification of God. Which is 100% flawed. But that speaks more to the flaws of man than God. I'll just say this, there are things I've seen that cannot be explained by coincidence. Some may call it the law of attraction or whatever, but it's the same thing.
Funny video btw.

Um, not sure 'co-incidence' can cause anything. Maybe you need to revisit your understanding of co-incidence...

"Explained" != "caused". Maybe you need to revisit your understanding of "explained".
