Agreed. Laumer's original Bolo stories and the novels written by others are on my "rationed" reading list. I only let myself re-read them every so often to avoid having them become stale.
One of the surprising joys of late middle age / early senior-hood has been that I remember plot-lines less now than I used to. This makes re-reading something a lot more enjoyable.

I'll go way back in a second, but I have found the biggest problem with most modern fictional writers is that the series never ends. It's like they write a book and people like it. They are surprised so that just start adding one after the other with no overall plan.
One series I got into: The Lost Fleet by Jack Campbell. It was great for the first 3 books, then another 3 came out, and I think there is even more now. FOCUS. The worst is Kindle Unlimited. One series I got into is now over 20+ releases, the original subjects have died, they are now into great grand children. It just never ends.
I will recommend "Old Man's War" series.
Now, going way back, "Nine Princes of Amber"

What is your favorite code editor theme? Could you share a screenshot?
When I used the "CodeMirror" web-based editor, I chose the "midnight"[^] theme. The options are limitless. You can view dozens of unique code editor themes, here: CodeMirror: Theme Demo[^]
I'm building a web-based code editor for Project Chromosphere.com. I've got it up and running, but I've only configured a few things. I chose to go with a dark theme, because that's what I'm used to. I set the parameters for syntax highlighting and it looks OK, but I need to play around with it a bit more.
My code editor is online for testing. Take a look at it and share your opinion. Do you like the theme? What would you change?

Steve Raw wrote: I'm building a web-based code editor for Project Chromosphere.com This just for learning? You can already run VS Code in your browser at https://vscode.dev/. Don't get me wrong, it looks pretty cool so far, but it takes a lot of work to make a full-fledged environment and VS Code is already out there.
Steve Raw wrote: Do you like the theme? What would you change? To be honest, it reminds me of the 60s, back when displays had one color. There's some old farts that love that. And there is a place for it if someone had visual impairments, but for the rest of us we want to better use the color palettes we've been given. If you're serious about this project, go hire an artist on Fiverr or something.
As to your original question, this is the theme I go with. It gives me warm fuzzies and makes me feel special.

Dark themes are easier on my eyes. Otherwise I just use the defaults because I don't have time to fiddle with things that don't affect my code.

I have to increse the font sizes - better than having everything scaled 150% (which I have to do anyway).
