Screwing with someone's browser experience is bad juju. It's no better than endless popups. It'll only prevent non-techy users anyway. If you're really that worried about it, you're better off watermarking the image.

I do watermark, but I'm not really worried about them.
The techies will get them no matter what.

Cannot prevent someone from taking a picture 🖼️ of the screen from their mobile camera 📸. And then using OCR to convert the image to text. Isn't it?
Addendum: Other than the Coca Cola formula, is there anything which has been protected without getting leaked? As individuals, we perhaps don't have the financial strength to protect our so-called intellectual property.

Not sure how that changes anything?
It can be erased from the image.
It can be deleted from the OCR text.

In addition to the above replies, you should note that PDF is not a "read-only" format. Many tools are available to unpick PDFs into an editable form.
You don't need a "viewer server" component. Just publish the PDF and browsers know what to do.

I understand if someone doesn't want to be plagiarized. It's happened to me and that sucks. But, asking someone not to save it... why, you wanna show them new adds or something? If you're worried about squeezing a dollar out of someone then put it behind a paywall.
Keep in mind though, the scientific community doesn't take too kind to the average antics people play when it comes to extorsion, money, etc. Which is what this sounds like if plan on making sure nobody can save your content.

Since I have quite a lot of time with my girlfriend now, we play a lot of board games.
Played Everdell[^] last weekend and we're looking forward to playing it again this weekend.
Disney Villainous[^] is our all time favorite, got almost all of the Disney add-ons as well as the base Marvel and Star Wars versions.
Other favorites are The Quacks of Quedlinburg[^] and Mycelia[^].
I also found out pretty much all of my friends are more into board games than I thought they were.
Do you play board games? If so, any recommendations?

My son and I used to play Risk (the Lord of the Rings version is fun) but we're both "grown up" now, and he's in Pennsylvania (7 hours away), and now he's into Magic (not a board game) with his GF. I miss board games, there used to be some people around here that played Catan (really requires more than 2 people) but I found Catan to quickly spiral into one or two people with all the resources and the rest of us in poverty. How like life.
[edit]Oh, and a lot of chess. Love playing chess.[/edit]

If you go looking, then you will find it's a large community. If you are in the Maryland and surrounding areas (PA, DE, & DC), there is GCOM (Games Club of Maryland). It has regular open events in White Marsh and Laurel. There are also numerous other events that you can go to, but finding them on their website is harder. Meetup also is a great place to find gaming groups. There are also a lot of bars that host gaming groups on low turnout days, like Monday or Tuesday.
The trick is to find a crowd that plays the types of games you like: war games, party games, Euro games (heavy or light?), etc.

I just heard about Los Alamos Chess recently (no bishops, 6x6) - designed specifically to the constraints of the MANIAC I "supercomputer" to be able to play it.

Unfortunately that depends a lot on personalities.
I was in a group where several people loved Pictionary. I hated it. Probably both due to the time limit and that I can't draw.
On the other hand I liked intense turn based strategy games not favored by others.
In a different group I was surprised by how much some casual users liked the game "Illuminati".
I think because the game literally has rules for cheating.

If I remember correctly "Pass the Pigs" was a game that went over well when drinking as it is rather simple and there can be quite a bit of humor in how the 'dice' land.
(The rules say 2/4 people but if the game I remember then varying that is quite easy.)

Been board with games lately.
Used to play monopoly but my wife would buy up all the railroads and just watch me flutter in the gutter.
All I can suffer anymore is thrashing her a$$ at acey deucey.

Try the new Euro games. What defines a Euro game is that 1) there is a set timer/condition for when the game ends, 2) everyone plays through to the end, 3) multiple ways to get points, 4) low luck-based rules/strategy & decisions are more important.
In comparison, Monopoly falls under the category of "Ameri-trash" games, for an obvious reason.
