There's probably a "grace period" where the ATT account still works, allowing you to notify others of your email change. That's helpful if you need to log in to an account where you can't remember the credentials, and they'll send you a link to the email address on file, for example.

I've had my sbcglobal.net address for almost 10 years after cancelling my AT&T service. It's been handled by Yahoo for a very long time.

I had an sbcglobal.net email account (Dallas) that I thought finally got closed after about 10 years, but I just managed to log on to it. It was taken over by AT&T and is now on Yahoo! mail.
My wife still has an att.net email account about 9 years after moving.
I don't think your friend's account will disappear anytime soon.

I had to do a double take because the 2 outside numbers are really faint and I'm blind in one eye and can't see with the other.
The less you need, the more you have.
Even a blind squirrel gets a nut...occasionally.

Cataracts, going in for surgery consult next month.

I had my cataracts done December 2020, wow you cannot imagine what you have been missing.
Colours are so much more vivid and shapes are well defined and I can now drive at night without the oncoming cars blinding me by whiting out my vision.
They fitted lenses that matched my current or then current glasses prescription and I only put on my glasses to read the mobile phone.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to the surgery. My SO had it done a couple of years ago and it made a big difference for her.

I did that, too. I would have sworn the first digit was an 8 until I looked a third or fourth time. It must have been, uh, my monitor. Yeah, that's the ticket, it was my monitor.

I see 3452839. Barely.
A while back I saw a similar test of your sensitivity to colors and hues. It was a horizontal bar with small sections that differed very slightly in shade from one to the next, and you counted how many sections you could see. I think there were like 80 different shades, but a lot of people couldn't see but 50-60.

It might be an idea to get an eye test:
People with higher levels of contrast sensitivity are more likely to be able to see all seven digits straight away.
Poor contrast sensitivity can be a symptom of eye conditions including cataracts or glaucoma. I'm tested annually because my mother had glaucoma and it's hereditary.

I'm getting a cataract in my right eye, and I can tell it's going to lead to lots of fun. My eye doctor said folks my age don't normally get them (just my luck) and that she can see it now without dilating my eyes. I am so looking forward to having my eye sliced open in a few years.

I see that there are digits, but the image drives my eyes buggy, so I won't try too hard.
I also note that my "regular" glasses (with progressive lenses) are worse for viewing it while my "computer" glasses (intended for viewing at "screen" distances) are better.
