I have to admit that I'm thoroughly enjoying SAK's latest articles. Methinks he's found his calling here - the C++ stuff is incredibly useful. His latest, on threading, is currently being used to simplify some rather more complex code I had.
So he should stick to writing and stay away form the QA forum
"There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult." - C.A.R. Hoare
I just found this in a comment to a news article I was reading:
The problem with something "foolproof" is that new and improved types of fools are being made every day.
That comment was prophetic. The article was about a train accident here last year. It turned out that the fool involved was the dispatcher who was too busy playing with his phone instead of looking what happens on the tracks.
"I don't know, extraterrestrial?"
"You mean like from space?"
"No, from Canada."
If software development were a circus, we would all be the clowns.
It really disgusts me these days when groups get together for an event and nobody talks to each other, too busy watching videos or checking arsebook on their phones. My ibil is constantly asking if I have seen his latest posts and complaining that other family members don't 'like' his idiotic posts. I have seriously looked for a thumbs down symbol, or a dislike link, but I must not be looking in the right place...at least then he would see that I read them.
One of the reasons I got a WP was so that I can't get the 'facetime' app that he loves to use...also, when the wife has iProblems, iDontGottaBeInvolved!
