For a couple weeks now, I've been trying to stabilize my server application and get rid of some NASTY memory leaks... Which I recently ranted about here
I've finally eradicated the last of them!
I started breaking out parts of the server into test applications, to narrow down exactly which component was leaking, and luckily I found it before I got to the component that would have probably taken several days to test. The culprit uses a relatively-simple scripting interface, and I found it leaking about 32KB of memory each time my server ran a certain script (Which it does once a minute)...
So I started trying things, poking around to see what could increase/reduce the amount of memory leaked... Finally I tried applying a "calc.clear" command, something that wasn't used in any of the examples or tutorials for their system, and had a tiny little spot in the index with the helpful description of "Clears all calc settings."
Wouldn't ya know it... The leak was plugged!
My server, which started at around 130MB of RAM usage when I left last night, was around 380MB this morning. Now, with that tiny little fix applied, it's staying around 105MB (For a while it was hovering at 88MB before one of the subsystems finished loading, which gave it a tantalizing aura of Back to the Future geekiness). I even tried triggering every module of the server, repeatedly, as fast as I could, and I couldn't bring it above 120MB (After which it casually slid back down to 105MB)...
Ah, the rush of victory... Ok, happy rant finished.
A power washer should do it. The water pressure will "erode" the carcass, and they'll be able to suck out what's left with an industrial vacuum.

Nail a small piece of wood to the tree and then report a tree-house. If the local government over there hates fun as much as ours, they will quickly mobilize the army and blast it away with artillery fire.
