I have been chuckling about this for some time now!
And what is so funny?
I love my Cuban Tea and Chinese Cigars.
"I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible." - Mr.Prakash One Fine Saturday. 24/04/2004
Actually, "disorientated" and "disoriented" are the same. In Britain, at least when I was at school, we were taught to say "disorientated". "Disoriented" was considered a poorly-spelled American version of the word along the lines of "tonite" instead of "tonight" or "donut" instead of "doughnut".
- Life in the fast lane is only fun if you live in a country with no speed limits.
- Of all the things I have lost, it is my mind that I miss the most.
- I vaguely remember having a good memory...
Funny how words work. I knew about both versions, but had all but forgotten everything about the first version. When I read your correction, I thought "Huh, who gave you the orientation that you lost?" then "Well that was very American of me." I was thinking that when you are given an orientation, you are "orientated", but when you are "oriented" it comes from yourself. Just like the self centered, selfish colonialists we are.
I also didn't find the comment about Cuba so funny. Of course, at one time the Boson Bay had a substantial amount of tea that would have been the envy to own. (When it wasn't salted with saltwater.) I don't think the point would have been taken if the tea had been stolen instead.
In the same way, having all the (unsalted) tea in Cuba could make you very rich. Of course you'd have to have plenty of bodyguards if the Cuban government found out who took it. Considering how the word "bomb" spoken aloud in an airport is treated nowadays, maybe I should barricade my doors because of what I said. "Freedom of speech" isn't what it used to be anymore either.
Have there been any studies of a sudden decrease in the size of cabbies brains?
