Every famous person is famous for something.
Let me, Lloyd Dupont, coin here, in this public place, a new previously un-named albeit widely used pattern, the "Rube Goldberg" pattern, named after the machine[^].
(OK, I didn't create the name, but I AM the one who promoted to pattern status!! )
The code I'm refactoring used the Rube Goldberg pattern quite a lot! ^^

I agree. I've been thinking of starting a project that is only for trying out new things and when one method finishes running it starts the next and so on until it finally in some grand Rube Goldberg style announces "Hello World!"

This is hello world stuff man! Heaps should be done to achieve it properly!!

Yes! But long before it displays "Hello World" the CD tray ejects, pushing the start button on the coffee maker...

Sounds a lot like callback-based programming to me ... (I actually like callbacks, and tend to overuse them.)

Unfortunately, you cannot patent the method or copyright the name, there's tonnes of 'prior art' out in the universe.

Damn, I have been had..
But I can still write a few easy 756 pages books!!

Sadly it's just an extension of the Heath Robinson Method[^] that we all know and love.

Must be a historic a pattern, as it qualifies as a pattern as well as an anti-pattern[^]!

You mean anti-pattern, right? IMO just a variation of observer done wrong.

Observer? It's more like spaghetti!
