They've moved to WebExtensions, which means legacy add-ons don't work unless ported. Many have not been, some can't be and others can't be with equivalent functionality, since the old extensions model is more powerful.
Firefox is my default browser but, tbh, I never really notice these supposed differences in speed that the browser vendors tout. If they exist they are trivial in comparison to network latency or even just ease of navigation (e.g., Firefox's superior navigation in its address bar).
