I watched it from the steps of the Hualapai Tribal Headquarters building in Peach Springs, AZ. We only got about 30% - 40% coverage at that latitude, but it was still fun to see.

The TV news around here have been talking about the eclipse for weeks.
A few days ago a reporter was telling viewers how to properly take care of those glasses... Most people won't see another solar eclipse for decades. If ever. Why would you hang on to them? Would you even remember where you stored them, decades from now...? Are they considered a family heirloom, to be passed down from generation to generation?
And then yesterday the same reporter was mentioning none of the local stores had any to sell. I suspect this morning there's millions of them available for free if anyone wants them...

Now that it's over, I wonder if there is an associated increase in calls to ophthalmologists. In my neck of the woods we had ~95% coverage, I can imagine some people thinking "Gee, it's 95% covered, that can't hurt my eyes!".

I saw a video of a guy looking into a telescope with no optical protection. He whipped his head back really fast. He's probably still seeing white spots.

I live in Dayton Ohio USA, so I got to experience the totality in person. Very, very  .

Who has to die at Microsoft to get "co-pilot" removed permanently from my browser?
I hate AI with a white-hot passion - it is garbage and waiting for the UI to "type out" messages makes me crazy.
The web just keeps getting worse.

I just updated my IntelliJ IDEA version to the latest this morning and I got a prompt to "enable full line code completion" that use AI to predict what you're going to write out and suggests it. That's after they already automatically added and badgered me to use their new "AI" tool.
I don't know if I'll ever need AI to help me code. I really don't need some stupid tool constantly guessing what I need to type out. Please just let me disable and remove such nonsense!

I don't mind the intelligent suggestions that the IDE makes based on the context, it's always had that feature and it's saved me a lot of time. This new "AI" feature is a little more.. aggressive with it's suggestions, basically filling in the whole line with a popup above it saying "press TAB to accept this suggestion". I don't need it writing my lines for me!

On the other hand, i find it useful in coding in languages which I'm weak in (VBA).
For example, I have a need to convert all numbers to subscripts in an MS Word document, and asked for a VBA macro for this. Not only did it write the macro, but also gave me instructions about how to use it; and my work was done in a trice.

Spoken too soon, on our builder that has limited internet access I had too find out which URL's had to be unblocked for Dotfuscator license activation.
After a lot of struggling and using F12 in the browser for debugging purposes, more than 10 URL's had to be unblocked before everything worked again.
Dreadful, really dreadful, hate this kind of stuff!

C++ is one of those languages that you have to keep banging at until it "clicks" after which it becomes a lot faster to learn additional C++.
That said, I do not believe it's possible to master every aspect of C++ in one lifetime. I don't even think Mr. Stroustup could say he has. After all, in the early days of the language he never imagined template would be used how it is used now.
Keep at it. OOP is cool, but after you've got the fundamentals down, explore the power of the template keyword, and constexpr, because that's really what sets C++ apart and to a degree even defines it these days. If you want to understand C++'s "personality", you'll want to understand metaprogramming. Plus it can be fun, because it's all little brain teasers the way it bakes out. "Solve this puzzle to create your implementation" - seriously.

I should add, I tell everybody who is new(ish) to C++ these days - get an Arduino kit, and code with that.
(Use VS Code w/ PlatformIO instead of the Arduino IDE, since it has intellisense, and is cleaner)
Arduino is a very easy to use software framework - designed for electrical engineers and hobbyists rather than developers. Plus being able to interact with physical devices via code helps to both realize your creations and can keep you motivated to keep at it.
