I was just attempting to find/listen to a tech and/or software dev based podcast on SoundCloud and all of them are like 5 or 6 years old.
Just curious about this.
UPDATE : POLL RESULTS
People here are too old for the Podcast technology.
Some of them however do use :
1) ham radios
2) cb (citizen band) radios
3) rotary dial phones
 
Podcasts are over.

Ignoring podcasts seems like the default here. I ignore them too.
But I guess it makes sense, because I tried to listen to a podcast and they were all old.
Which I would think would suit a lot of the members here (emphasis on old).

I believe it is when a family unit (known as a pod) in the northern hemisphere gathers bait and casts it upon rough seas. At times the seafaring Gullible Fish will strike the bait and the members of the pod will jump excitedly and dance. 
But I'm not sure. That's why I was asking here.

The only podcasts I really get into are retro gaming and/or retro hardware related. TheRetroHour[^], on Spotify, is one of my favorites.

If anyone remembers Leo Laporte from TechTV, he's launched his own podcast "network" after TechTV shut down. A lot of his podcasts are more mainstream than developers might like, but there's a few that are still technical enough; Security Now perhaps being the most hardcore of them. Windows Weekly focuses on Windows news, and I mostly listen to it for entertainment; I just like the banter. This Week in Tech is more about tech news in general, and I could take it or leave it.
Other shows they produce focus on Apple and Android, and those are just too fanboy-ish for my tastes.

Beyond those I've mentioned above, I listen to No Agenda, which is purely news deconstruction (although there's a lot of focus on US politics, especially these days obviously). They essentially focus on exposing the BS there is in the media presented as "news". They cover enough material to keep me informed so I generally don't bother with the mainstream media--this podcast alone makes their coverage redundant. And they dig a lot deeper.

Yes. No to Apple. "No to Apple" in general. My device of choice is my old Zune. Still works fine, and it manages podcasts on its own exactly as podcasts should be managed. The only reason I listen to some podcasts on my computer instead of the Zune is that some of them have dropped older encryption algorithms, and the Zune software doesn't know how to handle them.

Around the summer of '97 is when I moved off to the wilderness and got back into computers. (after a 10 year hiatus) Luckily, at least I had satellite TV and one of my favorite channels was ZDTV w/Leo LaPorte.
