If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.-John Q. Adams You must accept one of two basic premises: Either we are alone in the universe, or we are not alone in the universe. And either way, the implications are staggering.-Wernher von Braun Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.-Albert Einstein
I've never tried it, but it looks reasonably safe. I'm trying to buy an ATV, and it's a rather expensive toy (for me, at least). I've found a seller with the product I want - better, in fact - at a price I can afford, but he's in Montana and wants to use Amazon Payments to close the deal. Their buyer protection program only covers $2500, and this is a $3000 purchase, so I'd only be risking $500 on this venture. Does anyone here have any experience buying stuff this way? Is Amazon reliable in honoring their guarantee?
That's what I do, so I was surprised - just after I posted here - that the email from Amazon, while looking completely authentic, requested a payment to a private party using a wire transfer. I did a bit of whois-fu on the return address of the email (checkout-amazons.com) and discovered it to be a just-registered domain.
I've pdf'd all the emails, along with the whois results, and I plan to send them to the FBI and Amazon. Happily, he included instructions, his name and an address for the wire transfer, which they should find very helpful.
The other thing we did was a game where the teacher would describe a scene. We
could only ask yes or no questions to get to the answer of what happened.
One of my teachers did that back in elementary school... Most of them were murder mysteries... She just called the game "Computer", if I remember right, since you got semi-binary answers (Yes/No/Irrelevant).
