- 200g sugar
- 100ml water
- tiny pinch of citric acid (that stuff looks a bit like sugar if you're not wearing your glasses - do not eat it though. Seriously. Don't.)
(these amounts will make it fit in a common jam jar and will probably last you a decade)
Mix everything. Boil for a while - I boiled it for 10 minutes, but maybe it should have boiled a bit longer. Stir for fun - for some reason that makes it go crazy.
Damn that stuff is sweet. Much sweeter than sugar. So sweet that even I think that a spoonful of this stuff is a bit extreme.
Serving suggesting: add liberal amounts of it to anything and everything that should be sweet.
So after about 15 years of wearing glasses, I decided to get Lasik, which took place Friday. I am happy to report that I now have 20/15 vision without glasses The whole thing was surprisingly painless (felt a little like I was being abducted by aliens though...dark room, lots of equipment, strange objects getting waved in front of my eyes...).
Now for the long, difficult process of getting my brain to stop going "I should put my glasses back on" every 5 minutes...
I'm curious: did you have wave-front analysis, and flap created by Laser ? One, or both eyes ?
"So long as … social condemnation, which, in the face of civilization, artificially creates hells on earth, and complicates divine destiny, with human fatality … so long as three problems of the age: degradation of man by poverty; ruin of women by starvation; dwarfing of childhood by physical and spiritual night: are not solved: so long as social asphyxia shall be possible … so long as ignorance and misery remain on earth, books like this cannot be useless." Victor Hugo, "Les Misérables," 1862
