I remember a powercut once, where the entire building complex was powered by a high-tension cable (+-3000Volts) which got converted to 230 Volts.
When they switched the converter back on, the maintenance guy forgot to disconnect the main wire first. This caused a 400 Volt jolt to run through the entire building, enough to destroy a lot of equipment that was still connected.
I quite enjoy power outages. It gives me the opportunity to do something else!!! (Yeah, yeah, ok, often enough that means driving around to find a coffee house with power so I can keep doing the usual. )
