installation seems to be rather large for Linux Mint w/ Cinnamon (as in larger than a CD sized) but I may be remembering that wrong.
Yes that is the case, a bit of a pain, but you can always use USB drives to run the installer. And there is also the possibility of remastering the ISO files without things like OpenOffice, Java, and all the other stuff you might not need.
I kind of like Mint with Cinnamon, but had an issue at installation. I've got a GeForce GT 640 and trying to login into Cinammon after install put me right back to login screen with no information whatsoever as to what happened.
Had to login using Gnome (or MATE don't remember) to go to install the proprietary NVidia driver and then be able to login with Cinammon.
I don't mind installing the driver, just let me know what happened when login fails.
Also, trying to tell Linux through NVidia control panel that my primary monitor is the second (task bar on the right monitor, not the left) is quite a challenge! Had to go change an XML file somewhere in my configs to change the primary monitor setting!
Unfortunately Linux still isn't the easiest thing to use. Configuration GUIs still have a long way to go. In my CentOS install my firewall doesn't work right when I run it from the link, it can't change the settings (even though it asks for root password, so it should be able to). You have to start the GUI from a terminal as root for it to work right.
Have you ever tried installing the "live" CD without an internet connection? ...the installer fails with absolutely no warning/error, it just doesn't do anything. Happened to me... there was something wrong the router but how the heck would I know it failed?
What exactly does this "Zentyal" provide that you can't just set-up yourself in Linux? I don't see any benefits to paying for this...
I use the Ubuntu LTS for a SVN/Samba share server... works well... the graphics aren't really an issue because you're not going to be constantly logged on to it (have a window session). You can pretty much do all the administration via SSH. I use Putty on the Windows side to access SSH, Tortoise SVN as a Windows client.
The only thing I know about Dick3 is that he was a murderer, usurper, and poor horseman. There was a story about him written by the immortal bard which we were required to read in school; I still can't think of any justification for printing it. There was a movie based on that boring story that starred Sir Lawrence Olivier, and we were forced to view that travesty, as well. In what way my life was enriched by being exposed to such mediocrity in writing and acting I have yet to determine, despite 40+ years of trying.
The 'real' Richard III was a dick; so what? Most men of political power in those days were scoundrels and rapists. Now that I think of it, what's changed? Why would anyone expect more of tricky Dick? Put his bones back, repave the parking lot, and let's be done with him. Good riddance. And let's stop making kids read such trash! Maybe if we assign them reading that has meaning and value to them, they'll actually take an interest and learn the language. It's worth a shot, since Bog knows what we're doing now isn't working...
Well regardless of what kind of man he was I think the whole thing is fantastic. That they could find and identify his remains, learn about how he died and fill in a little bit of the history book is an achievement.
The experts can make any thing up they want to and no-one can contradict them.
The reporting has been getting right on my tits about it. Sky News yesterday said they had proved he was "buried underneath a car park in Leicester". No he fecking wasn't. There was no fecking car park when he was buried.
And the amount of people reporting the DNA was compared with that of a direct descendant, despite the bloke himself saying in every interview "I'm actually a direct descendant of his sister, not him".
There's dumbing down, and then there is simply being too dumb to report things properly.
Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.
I love how people try to label everything as racist. Call a white man a monkey, and it's clearly aimed at his intelligence level/other relevant attributes, but call a darker skinned man a monkey, and it can only be about his skin color. It always seems funny to me, because then the people calling it racist are being more racist than the person making the joke (unless they actually meant it that way).
You're talking about a man who came from a poor family, who through hard work made something of his life, and was elected by the people (not the suits that run the money markets) of his country to high office.
WTF is wrong with CP today -- maligning Shakespeare, then taking cheap shots at good men, just because they're Iranian?
I wanna be a eunuchs developer! Pass me a bread knife!
Shakespeare's okay. We know he had it in for Richard III. It was a master stroke burying him under concrete in a car park. That explains why the Mafia liked to bury their victims under football stadiums and freeways - allegedly.
