I look forward to it, but have reservations.
Firstly, being made for US TV it will be very short (43 min per Ep).
I think for something like this a 100 minute runtime would be better, (Sherlock, for example, ran to 90 mins and thus gave a chance for story and character development).
Secondly I think it will lack the graphic violence that is able to be shown in cinematic releases.
(I particularly hate the editing done for the TV version of Jurassic Park).
Finallymost, is Mads Mikkelsen the right actor?
He was excellent as Le Chiffre, but can he play a psychotic Lithuanian with an English accent and a line of pithy comments?
I do hope so, but given that of the three people to play Hannibal so far, one has been Scottish, one Welsh and one French, so there is hope that he can pull it off.
Anyway, I shall give it a fair go before casting nasturtiums.

I know what you are saying, but...H2G2 radio versus H2G2 movie? The producers bought the rights...
The office UK versus US?
Producers don't seem to care about what made the original good - the reasons why they bought it in the first place - as long as they can get some "lift" from the original. Would James Bond work if he was CIA to fit the "local market"?
If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tinned pork then just delete it. It's Spam.
That's kind of my point. If it is good then they have done right, if not then a mistake.
Although many think that the US Office is greater than the original. I haven't watched it so couldn't say.
It angers me at times too, I'd rather they'd made Jack Reacher black than a midget.
And having read the Bourne books first I couldn't make it all the way through the first film because the name was the only thing they kept.
I'm not sure if you are aware, but they have remade Yes Prime Minister. Remade by the same people who wrote the original, and by all accounts it is terrible. It was actually turned down by the BBC and has been made by GOLD (I think).
On the other hand the remake of Reggie Perrin with Martin Clunes had many genuinely funny parts, but was unable to stand on its own because it was called Reggie Perrin and could never not be compared unfavorably to the original.
But as for changing the race or gender (or similar plot independent change) of a supporting character, it happens in many conversions from book to film, and the vast majority don't notice at all.
Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.
With a windows machine it looks like you can now target iOS as well as Android with Xamarin Studio. It will even plugin to VS so that you can still use that with all of your plugins and addons and source control.
