Well that sucks. I liked having an RSS reader as a web app thingy rather than a desktop app, but then again, I rarely even visit the reader. I guess I'm one of those people who are contributing to its decline.
Any good web-based replacements you can recommend?
Not sure yet - I guess I'm still hoping they change their mind, or maybe even (ick) add the functionality to G+. I'd even be willing to send them some money. I know they need it to fricking fund driverless cars and $1500 google bloody glasses.
I've heard some good about NewsBlur[^] (but don't really like the look of it, plus it's being hammered now) or The Old Reader[^] (looks like a very early beta).
Actually, I've never been impressed with Reader. The experience was terrible, the way it organized feeds was just confusing, and always required a huge effort to follow them all (instead of displaying everything in a quick glance like iGoogle does). I always loved iGoogle, but it is also going away. None of the alternatives looked appealing, though. Don't know what to do.
