Ryan, honey, I'm somewhere around 18N, 98E, GMT + 0700 now. Sorry if there's going to be a bit of a delay; look under the ice-trays in the fridge for a tv-dinner, if you need to, but for gods' sakes don't put the ones that are in aluminum foil containers in the microwave like you did last time.
Happy Customer Appreciation Day!
Yes, we're hosting a barbeque at the office, with lots of cheap giveaways and hot dogs for all! But who thought it would be a good idea to hold this in July, with the temperature around 120° F, humidity hovering at 50% or so, and monsoon storms closing in as I write this?
This is going to get interesting, if any customers are crazy enough to leave their air conditioned homes today.
A few years ago, a friend of mine got a job as a mobile mechanic, repairing big trucks on I-40 near here. They gave him one of those non-contact thermometers to spot trouble under the hood, but he shot the highway with it. Would you believe 270° F?
Well, we're having our family appreciation day today. After work the kids, 9 of the grandkids and a few friends are over for barbecue, beer or soft drinks, bolas criollas[^], etc.
Unfortunately, no hot dogs or cheap giveaways. My wife bought rib eyes for everyone, whether they like it or not. And it's only 99 F here and 99% humidity - typical Houston summer day. I'm sure the hammocks will get used and the grandkids will out last the rest of us.
