Thumbs Up | My how the times have changed! Smile | :)

I had the unpleasant task of working on a colleagues 5 y/o HP laptop running Winten on a spinner. Sigh | :sigh: Over a minute to get to the sign in screen, then a two minute wait period before it's usable! SSMS/VS take well over a minute to launch! OMG | :OMG: Debugging a smallish web app was really painful taking up to a minute to build/spin up upon any little change. OMG | :OMG: How can anyone get any work done with all that waiting? It's definitely time for a replacement! Smile | :)

I suppose it's a matter of what you get used to. I remember the first SSD (2011, 64G Patriot, $200) I bought for a new server build. It outlasted it's counterpart spinner data drive which suffered an unrecoverable failure at the 5 year mark. Over time, I've replace just about every spinner in my home/office with the exception of the external drives that travel between my main system and laptop. So far, I noticed any speed issues with those, so until a 1TB external SSD becomes a little more affordable...hang on...after checking prices it seems that a 1TB external SSD can be had for < $180! Smile | :) I have seen the future and it is fast! Smile | :)
