It is quite crazy, really.
When autorities close kindergartens and schools to avoid that kids carry the virus from one hone to another, parents arrange private "play groups" so their kids kan meet all of their playmates is a privat environment. They arrange for schoolkids to gather to do the school work together. Ot they make an extra winter vacation to their high mountain cabin, so they all can meet in a frienedly after-ski event where old friends get together...
Some of the high mountain communities, with thousands of cabins, have seen a fivfold to tenfold increase in their population the last few days. These are not old-style summer dwellings, half an hour's walk to the nearest neightbour - the cabins are lined up by the dozens, well within infection distance. And people are stubborn: They insist that their own judgement, that a high mountain vacation enjoing their unexpected free time with their cabin neighbours is better than staying isolated in town.
We are not talking of tens of people, but of tens of thousands. This one mountain village reported that they now had 25,000 cabin visitors, and if any noticeable fraction of them get sick, there is no way that the local medical service can handle them. But the cabineers refuse to go home - "Up here, the corona won't hit us". ... It already has, in one of the mountain villages.
Norwegians have always been stubborn. THey certainly show their stubbornness in this case. That could be fatal to some of them. The bad thing is thtat even they come through it themselves, it may my fatal to their relatives, or to their cabin neighbour.
I don't expcect common man to understand everything about corona. Yet I do not grant him the right to say "I don't understand it, so I can co whatever I want to".

It's stuff on facebook and twitter (all of it!) and media outlets that overtly support political parties that you shouldn't trust.
The rest of the media comprises professionals, taking truth seriously.
It's quite easy to tell them apart.

I just heard another new one: Corona babies.
We won't see them for another nine months, as a result of authorities urging us to stay at home. What is there to do when you both are at home all the time? Let's make a corona baby!

The management had a meeting today (on Phone) and we will all be working from home for at least the next couple of days. Even the support staff won't be coming in. I won't go as far, to say that we have a giant user-base but we do have a good number of people who use our product.
The thought of no support has been making me giggly all day!

We just had a department meeting and I managed to be one of the half a dozen people who will not be working from home (out of about 95 in the dept.). The others are support staff who need to be in... I volunteered. 
1. I get to work in a private office all by myself with multiple screens, instant access to our intranet, database servers, TFS server (sorry, Azure DevOps server as it's now called), very high speed internet with no competition for bandwidth, the ability to play my choice of music without the need for headphones, all the coffee I can drink, effectively a private bathroom, and lots of peace and quiet plus sackfuls of Brownie Points. 
2. I only live 20 minutes away (less when traffic is light, like now) and have secure parking that I have to pay for whether I use it or not. 
3. I avoid all the honey-dos she indoors would have me doing if I was home, working or otherwise. 
4. Easy Social Distancing!

People who think "working from home" means you can interrupt your work day to do things that are not work-related are people you would not want working for you remotely.
Years ago (at a previous job where working from home was an option) we had interviewed a lady who suddenly got rather ecstatic at the idea of not having to pay for daycare services. We tried to explain that's not how it works. She didn't get the job.

This.is.hard.
Especially if you are not, or cannot be setup properly; or if in this case you have kids in the house at the same time.
And the corollary, working from home does not mean working more than your usual number of hours; so no work in the evening or during the week-end.
I'd rather be phishing!

No kids, no wife, no girlfriend. If I get interrupted, it's by phonecalls. And people who know me now understand that if they wouldn't call me during work hours about something if I was working at an office, then it should wait until after 5. Most are smart enough to understand that.

Totally agreed. If I'm on a roll and I'm making great progress at something, then I'm not necessarily gonna stop just because of the clock...but I absolutely do not make a habit out of this.

Life choices my friend. I still remember some aunts of mine thinking I was being cute when I said at the age of 7 I was never going to get married. The older I get, the less incentive I feel I have to change that. And the more people give me reasons not to.

I don't mind working from home - I have the house to myself (except for the pugs, who sleep all day). I have worked from home several times, since I live in Florida and have worked (remote) in Iowa, Virginia, and a company about 40 miles away. I agree with the precept of dressing for work, and no non-work interruptions (no TV, Pandora playing, dedicated work-only laptop). Since the first of the year medical reasons make work from home almost mandatory.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, navigate a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Hi All,
Back from FAT testing last week spent the day updating JIRA tickets with results and playing with the camera that was bought for taking photo evidence. Using the basic interface it is just acceptable, As it is a web camera rather than a DSLR we can't use the recommended DigiCamControl. It is an Anran 'AN 80-F' I have been using the iSpy 64 software which gets around most of the issues we were seeing. I was wondering if there were any better options you know of...
