From personal experiences of people who I know and who have traveled to India recently, they say Indian airports were much more stricter in checks and interviews than in other places they were at. I do not know what the state is after you leave the airport though.

Security checks & frisking is quite strict in Indian airports even for domestic travel. For example, asking people to scan their shoes & belts have become a standard routine now. Even when you're flying a 150 miles distance 
I wear very loose pants when I travel. Removing the belts and then lifting my hands up for the frisk felt always dangerous.

Because that is one of the fewest defences they have.
And even before the virus, indian airports are one of the most annoying I have gone through in my years of travelling around the world.

I think India is prepared. For example, there are about 10 cases in Karnataka (where I live) right now, and for each of those ten cases, the patients, and the persons with whom they have interacted have been isolated.
Same is the case with other states too. And the Centre is taking care of all international travellers entering the country.
So, though we may not have built a mega hospital in 7 days, the underlying groundwork for preventing the spread has been done, and is continuing.
Hoping and praying that this situation continues, where we have very few cases for the billion+ people living here.

The worldwide Coronavirus count as of today, resembles the medals tally at Olympics. China leading, followed by US and European countries. India and other Third World countries are way down the table, and we are hoping that this situation continues with the Third World.

Actually in the developing world, we live and play with viruses like these from childhood so i guess we some how find away of just getting along. By the way, i suspect its already here but with no test kits, no one is seriously interested  . So how may it end here, just the same way other similar problems have ended - the virus (not the people will just die a natural death because of starvation  )

1. Quarantine, for example, is meant to contain a virus. Well that effort was lost long ago. There is no such thing as containing this virus.
2. I have seen lots of people say that it is to slow down the demand on hospitals. However, hospitals can't do much to treat corona virus, it's just a strong flu. So, from what I have read, the treatment from hospitals is administer fluids or oxygen in extreme cases. I can drink fluids at home. Do regular people go to the hospital when they get the flu? I never have. I don't get it often but when I have I stay home, hydrate, and ride it out. So, it seems like most people should not be going to the hospital anyway so a "run" on the hospitals doesn't seem like a valid reason for shutting things down.
3. I have seen numbers that indicate that for every one case we do know about there are 10-100 others that we don't know about, which also means that there are many more exposed but not infected. That means that most everyone has likely already been exposed to the virus so shutting everything down won't do anything. Most people have been exposed and a small percent become infected and another small percent turn serious.
4. This virus will always be with us, it will not be eradicated. So, what happens when everything goes back to normal? We'll have another round of outbreaks because everyone is hiding from it. However, if indeed nearly everyone has already been exposed then we won't have another outbreak but also proves that shutting things down has no actual purpose.
I feel like I must be missing something and that the world has gone mad. However, it's possible I have gone mad. Can anyone give valid reasons for what is happening?

There are X number of beds available for critical care in a hospital. This care enables people who otherwise might die to have a chance. As the virus spreads it will affect Y people who will need critical care. This value Y changes over time, and if Y > X then the hospitals can't cope. Y is dependent on how fast the virus spreads. Slow it down and we keep Y < X.
That's all it is. It's not about stopping the spread. It's about giving those most at risk a chance to get treatment at a hospital so complications from the virus can be treated. Keep them alive long enough, the body ditches the virus, the body recovers, one less fatality.
Having said that, every day there is new news on treatments being tested that are actively treating the virus, and testing of vaccines has already begun.

Some people will refuse to see it because it is expressed logically, in a reasoned, methodical fashion. They can't rationalize it through whatever cultural reality filter they were raised on, so they reject it.

That makes some sense but the numbers don't seem to match. If the hospitals were only admitting those that need treatment (which there isn't much treatment available anyway) it doesn't seem like they'd be running out of beds. If that is true, all of our hospital systems are in pretty bad shape. And when a much worse virus happens in the future, then what?
Plus the treatments that are available at the hospital can also be done in the home. The US, at least, has tons of home health care workers. If hospitals are being overrun maybe they need to do in-home care.
