The 3D printer has finished printing the latest version of one of one of the most difficult parts of the Eagle model. The 3D model suffers from all the problems I mentioned in the other post, plus some more.
The good news: I spotted only a few minor things where the Cura misinterpreted the improved mesh. It's far from perfect, but I may get around redesigning it from scratch.
The bad news: Lowering the printing temperature did not help. The 'cobwebs' are now turning into 'hairs'. That's a similar effect, but a bit messier and even harder to get rid of. I must raise the temperature again and then find another way to get a cleaner print. Maybe it's just that brand of filament.

Retraction did not change anything, not even with a Z step of 2 mm. The low printing temperature also did not help. I'm now at 180 degrees, 20 degrees below the temperature for this filament and that made everything even more messy. I will go back to a healty 210 degrees and check the settings of the cooling fans.

Could be the filament as you suggested. I've had filaments that had more stringing than others, but never that bad.
I'm not sure how many cookies it makes to be happy, but so far it's not 27.

Maybe not. I have tried to update Cura to the latest version. That did not work because they removed the option to manually select the printer's port and autodetection for some reason does not work. However, they now had a settings profile for my printer. So I just copied these settings into my old version of Cura and now it's printing again. No stringing at all so far, but the interesting part is still coming up. And it has become much faster. The last print took 16 hours at 0.15 mm layer height, nou it will be done in 12 hours at 0.1 mm layer height. In the morning I will be smarter.

That's terrible! When I think of "stringing", I mean really fine fibres: And printing in PETG[^] which aren't that bad to get rid of - a sharp blade and gentle sanding does the job.
That's PETG though, not PLA - I never got any stringing at all with PLA - running at 215/60, 80 mm/s with retraction 10mm at 60mm/s and a 20% fan speed.

4.6.1 - it nags at you until you upgrade just to be able to see the whole object ... 
And I generate the STL from Fusion 360.
Those setting were for YoYi Translucent Blue PETG (Amazon[^]) - in theory they manufacture themselves using European stock so it should be pretty consistent, but they are Chinese, so ...

I got the printer working again, after trying to upgrade Cura. Autodetection of the right port does not work in the new versions and they have removed the option to manually select the port. But the newer versions did have a settings profile for the printer and I simply set up a completely new profile in the old version and copied all settings from the newer version manually.
It's now printing again and it has become a different printer. It has become much faster. The messy print took 16 hours with a layer height of 0,15 mm. The new profile says 12 hours at a layer height of 0,1 mm (!). I had to restart the print because the default infill was far too low and I had forgotten to change it. Now it's printing with far higher infill and 0,15 mm layer height. 9.5 hours now, so we shall see in the morning. And no stringing at all so far!

Excellent! Hope it works out.
Mine finds the printer (on USB) every time without problems. Perhaps you have some other device connected that is confusing things? Just a guess - I'm not a Cura expert.

I have a small USB hub so that I don't have to crawl behind the desk every time I want to plug something in. I think that the USB driver does not like the hub.
The strangest device that once in a while gets plugged into that hub is the T-Rex's gyro, but it never had any problems with the hub or the printers.

There's an opportunity for you here. One of your comments on the images was about the "wood-like texture" after some sanding.
You could go for a steampunk version of the Eagle!

Even more changes to the model. How about a huge baloon to lift it up and large propellers to push it forward instead of rocket engines? The pilots wear suits and top hats. And lots of bolts and rivets on the metal parts. AIR 1899.
George Lucas always was looking for ideas. It's not a coincidence that 'Space 1999 Eagle' and 'Millenum Falcon' sound somewhat similar.

Any of you who've ever started to drink Orange Juice after brushing their teeth has discovered that it was not a great idea and is very much worth not repeating.
I'd always attributed this to the mint component of the toothpaste. I made and error in this by not checking with something like peppermint tea to determine explicitly if mint were to blame - the nasty of the toothpaste induced experience did not encourage such a test.
So this morning I googled for the negative effects of peppermint on the taste of orange juice and found it to be essentially a blank in terms of relevant answers. Then I switched to toothpaste instead of mint and here[^] is the reason.
For persons such as myself, who quaf Orange Juice by the pint, this is an important revelation. The those of you who don't partake, add it to your bar-room trivia

No, it's just the order in which I do things. I have had dental implants and the mouthwash I was prescribed after the surgery was not effective if used immediately after brushing. So when I returned to 'normal' products I carried on doing things in the same order.
