Ok, now it's just getting to jealousy stage. Brian, traveller at large, been to Germany many times, while us mere mortals only get to dream of it
Seriously, you have to go back soon - I want to see what it looks like in the summer (although you might have other motivations...)

lol
I'm flying over in 4 weeks again
Ulla was just telling me about ti at the moment via im... today she said it's warm but not as warm as it has been for the last few weeks... I asked her how hot it was... hmm.. only 29 degrees!!! It's 21 over here today and I'm melting... God help me when I get over there!!
I'll definitly take some more pictures.. I'd just love to have a camera and an eye like yourself or Paul. Someday!
I'll also be going over for about a month from the middle of August until the middle of September and Ulla will be flying back with me for a few weeks... So i'll get to spend a full month in Germany. We'll probably travel around Europe for a bit then as well. Hopefully.

Brian Dela

Sounds like plenty of heaven coming your way then Good to hear it. Any idea's where you'll be going in Europe? Touring Europe in a vehicle seems like such a great way to spend a few weeks. I'm a little scared of the whole driving on the other side of the road thing though. Tried it once in the US - can't say it relaxed me any! We've just had leave approved to go to Sweden for a week at the end of August Seems like a good place to learn the ropes - out in the Swedish countryside where there's no-one else to crash into

Ah.. Ulla will be driving.. She's used to driving on that side of the road.. considering it's the side they normally drive on in Germnay I should hope she would be!

Nope.. It's about 130 miles... well... It's about a 3 hour drive.. Ulla is flying into an airport near there [Kerry Airport] when she comes over in a week or two so we'll probably go there to have a look around for a while.

Looks like a great spot for walking and relaxing, just the two of you style
BTW, was meaning to ask you (elusive Brian ) - Brendan's cousin is coming over here for 10 days, then heading off to Ireland to work for friends of his parents on their farm. Not sure if it's north or south (sorry, he didn't know - fresh off the farm...), but we were wondering: if we give him one of our old pay as you go UK mobile phone sim cards (TMobile/One2One) will it work over there? Or should he just wait till he gets there and then buy one himself? Thanks

It should work fine but he'll probably have to pay roaming charges to TMobile... He could buy a sim pack [Just a sim card] over here for around €20 [~£15]... he'd get €20 euro of free credit with that too so it's technically costing him nothing... Just make sure that the phone he brings is not locked to a particular network in the UK... over here the phone providers lock a phone to their network until there has been a certain usage on it [and then you can ring and get it unlocked]. I don't know if it's the same in the UK.
I'd recommend going for either O2 or Vodafone over here... both have excellent coverage.. tell him to steer clear of Meteor... they have excellent coverage in cities but go about 3 miles outside of a city and they just aint gonna work.

Brian Dela

Thanks for the advice - I'll let him know Luckily he has an unlocked SA phone, 20 euro's sounds like an excellent price with free time.

Those are great - looks so interesting! Perhaps I should get brave, learn to drive on the other side of the road and head off towards Germany
Serious warning however - posting pics of your beautiful girlfriend might lead to dissention in the male CPian ranks
