Kilkenny, kilkenny... isn't it also the name of a delicious beer?

I used to be an editor so I got it from Chris for free

I used to work for AOHELL AOL... Had to. Put me through college until now. But then the company (Well actually it's a non-profit telecommunications research group ) where I done my work placement offered me a part time job when I went back to colelge so I jumped at the opportunity to get out of AOL (man I hated working there).
Now I'm getting to work on stuff I enjoy (.NET, Jabber, ASP.NET, C# and the list goes on) and getting paid better money than AOL and an awful lot more flexible hours... Also.. the job is challenging... so no where near as boring as AOL.

Hehe... yeah... I would. But one word of warning... they will only take you on as a masters student.. or if your not a masters student, if you've worked here before as a placement student (i.e. like me) or if you have a phd!
It's a fairly big research group.. big in terms of funding, not size (~50 people) and at the moment they are taking on top researchers. I'm actually working in a comercialisation project at the moment... me.. a lowley programmer.

OK.. not sure exactly how it worksin the UK but I think it's fairly similar to here in Ireland.
We have the following levels in Uni/College:
Certificate (2 years)
Diploma (Cert + 1 year, or 3 years straight)
Degree (4 years Straight, or Diploma + 2 year)
===========
Taught Masters (Degree + 1 year full time in college/uni without funding)
Research Masters (Degree + 2 years research with funding if you can get it)
Phd (Degree + 3/4 years, or Masters (Taught or Research) + 1-3 years)
Here in TSSG they "provide" research masters positions in the area of Advanced Telecommunications. In Ireland when you get your degree (4 years or 5 years if you do a diploma first) you can then go on to do a Masters. To do this you either do it and pay for it (around €6000 a year in fees) or get a research group like TSSG to pay for it... so here you'd get around €40,000 for 2 years which includes the €12000 in fees for 2 years).. not many people get a deal like that in Ireland. Only maybe 100 students all over the country each year.
They also provide PHD's but only for those who have already completed a Research Masters. Does that explain it? I'm not sure if I was clear.

Nah that'll be different to here. The degree i'm after is the MEng in Civil Engineering, MEng is "Masters of Engineering", its a 4 year course as apposed to a 3 year Bachelors BEng.
HOpefully I should get a decent job for life with an MEng.
P.S. http://blog.nonny.com/[^] check out the galleries, my 18th party is on there.
