I'm looking for someone to create a compilable, runnable version of mplayer[^] from the source code and codecs that they provide.
Basically, I don't have the patience to do this. The end result should be a complete and accurate set of instructions on how to build the application and a complete snapshot of the directories, tools, etc., properly configured, for building the program. The goal is that with the directory snapshot, I should be able to replicate the build environment on my workstation and with the documentation, build the exe. Actually, the snapshot and documentation should be checked in to a repository on my CVS server.
If you want to submit an hourly bid, email me your hourly rate, estimated billable time and estimated real time to complete, and a brief explanation of why you are qualified to do the work.
If you want to submit a fixed price, email me with your fixed bid, estimated real time to complete, and a brief explanation of why you are qualified to do the work.

Unless you used to have a different sign on, or were simply lurking, you really shouldn't lie like that. Your bio clearly states you have posted only 2 messages and have been a member since, um, today.
And frankly, if you represent the talent of your company, I would look carefully at working for your outfit. Try "been away for quite a while".
You and others may think I'm being really critical, but your words represent you and your company, and not researching how the site works, obvious BS, and spelling errors in your post really don't speak well for your recruiting agency, regardless of what rewards you guys have won.

Hi,
The reason that I am writing this message is that I believe that I am being ripped off.
I have this client who I do a lot of work for, including ASP.net database driven web design, graphic design, printing, computer equipment supplies, and IT maintenance.
This client has 2 retail outlets and an online store.
Back in the beginning when I was new to business I decided that I would charge them AU$35 per hour (approx US$26), today (2 years later) I am still charging the same rate.
Lately I have had trouble getting invoices paid in a decent amount of time, sometimes I will get a pile of 5 or 6 invoices which need paying, meanwhile I am almost out of funds waiting for the money.
I bend over backwards for this client despite now having another major client and a few small jobs. I continue to knock back extra work.
As a result of this I am currently reviewing the rates that my business charges them. Is it possible that some people in a similar situation to me could supply their hourly rates?
I'd especially like to know the rates that Australians are charging, and also I'd love honest answers.
Thanks to anybody who helps me out.

If the client is not paying you now at $26 per hour, what good would it do to raise your rates? My suggestion would be to stop doing any work for this client until they are paid in full. Anything short of this is a losing proposition.

if your only charging USD26 I would double the price at the very least.

Increase the rate since they don't seem to take you seriously and are not a cost effective or considerate customer. Also I would suggest that putting a time limit on payments or no gurther work is carried out is worth considering.
Sometimes it is hard to say 'No' and some people take advantage of this.

I need help. I created server application broadcasting UDP packets to 255.255.255.255 address. Client application is listening on the same machine.
I create socket, than call m_sock.SetSockOpt(SO_BROADCAST, TRUE);
and later m_sock.SendTo(string, n, m_port, "255.255.255.255");
and
m_sock.SendTo(string, n, m_port, "127.255.255.255");
The 2nd call is necessary, because when the machine has only loopback interface, 1st call fails.
Problem is:
1. My customers client application receives packets only if the machine is connected to a router.
2. My testing client, written in C# receives packets doesn't matter the machine is or is not connected to a router. But in some cases - if the machine is connected for example to a wireless network - my client gets the data twice.
I don't understand it at all - what is wrong with customers application (no source code available ) and why is broadcasting behaviour not consistent - sometimes sending to "255.255.255.255" is received on localhost and sometimes not.

I’m not at home so I can’t just pick up my TCP/IP book. As memory serves 255.255.255.255 is a reserved IP for the routing table. If you need to always connect back to the local host whether or not the computer is on a LAN use 127.0.0.0 as the IP.
There is a reason NOT to use 255.255.255.255 for this purpose but I just for the life of me can’t remember all of the details.
