I have set the Form property to target="_blank", which opens the form in new browser window when any button is clicked. But
now only for one button I want to change it(the target prpperty of form) to "_self". I want to keep the remaining same but
want to chage it only for this button. May be its possible by using "javascript".
I tried in the following ways, but of no use. I would be thank ful to all of you.
function openInNewWindow() {
// Change "_blank" to something like "newWindow" to load all links in the same new window
var newWindow = window.open(this.getAttribute('http://localhost/Sample1/AsposeEx3.aspx'), '_self');
newWindow.focus();
return false;
}
function f1()
{
window.Form1.target="_self";
}
function f2()
{
window.Form1.target="_self";
window.open("http://localhost/Sample1/AsposeEx3.aspx");
}
function f2()
{
window.Form1.target="_self";
window.location="http://localhost/Sample1/AsposeEx3.aspx"
}

Could someone point me in the right direction or even guide me through the creation of my own code snippet. I have this code that i want as a snippet:
Public Function IsAlphaBetical(TestString As String) As Boolean<br />
<br />
Dim sTemp As String<br />
Dim iLen As Integer<br />
Dim iCtr As Integer<br />
Dim sChar As String<br />
<br />
sTemp = TestString<br />
iLen = Len(sTemp)<br />
If iLen > 0 Then<br />
For iCtr = 1 To iLen<br />
sChar = Mid(sTemp, iCtr, 1)<br />
If Not sChar Like "[A-Za-z]" Then Exit Function<br />
Next<br />
<br />
IsAlphaBetical = True<br />
Else<br />
IsAlphaBetical = False<br />
End If<br />
<br />
End Function

Create the XML doc for your code snippet and save it with the file extention of .snippet.
In Visual Studio 2005
Goto > Tools > Snippet Code Manager....
This will allow you to import your new snippet.
May take a few tries but once you figure out the simple tags, it cake after that.

I would recommend downloading the Code Snippet Editor program. It makes it very easy to create code snippets and has pretty good documentation.

if you're referring to the IsAlphabetical, it's an appropriation of some code i found. I adjusted it to patch a loop hole in the returned value. Be careful, i'm not sure how it deals with spaces, it also returns null text boxes with a false value.

Hello,
I want to detect when a user selects an item from a combo box, Normally I use the selectChangedCommitted event of the combo box. However, I am creating a PDA using WM 5.0, and that event is not available. They have only selectValueChanged and selectItemChanged.
However, I want the event to fire only when the user has selected from the combo box.
Is there a way to create an new event to do this, or is there another event I can use to do this.
Many thanks in advance,
Steve

I can't see why SelectedItemChanged would be inappropriate. It fires when the user selects a different item to the one already selected. This shoukd be right for when the user has selected an item from the list.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
I would really like it to fire after the change has been fully committed.
Is it possible to create your own events for these controls?
Thanks for any help,
Steve

Hello,
after the compilation of my vb6.0 project my exe file was usually about 5MB. But recently I either get the error 'system errror &H80004005 (-2147467259) unknown error' or in the case that the compilation was successful the exe file is about 120MB.
(the files that belong to the project are not bigger than 7MB alltogether).
Does any one know how it is possible that the exe file can become so big.
The only changes I've made were minor code changes.I didn't add any references or componets to the project.I've tried to reinstall the VS 6.0 and all the components I use but without any result. Even the older version of the project which I've compiled to the normal size a few weeks ago is now about 120MB after compilation.
I use VB6 with SP6 on a WinXP machine.
I would be very greatful for any kind of idea or information
regards,
Andreas

Check that you haven't included debug information in the compilation.

"the exe file is about 120MB"
Is it 120MB or 12MB?

How would I know? Ask the original poster.

It is 120MB so the difference is really significant. I think I wouldn't bother about 12MB.

do you mean the the option 'generate debug information for symbolic debugger' on the register compile in the project properties?
This option isn't checked. So I assume I have no debug information in my compilation
I have even found an older version of my vbp file and tried to compile the project using it but the exe file was still 120MB

Delete the bin and do a full recompile.
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

thanks for the suggestion but I'm working with vb6.0 and as far as I know there is no bin

Sorry about that, I tend to use bin (as in binary) and exe interchangeably.

well I've also tried to delete the exe, but the result is still the same.
But during the compilation there are two phases one "compilation in progress". I suppose this is the compiler, which works fine. The obj files are created. Then the second phase "exe is being created" which is the linker.This process fails very often. Do you think that perhaps any of the dlls which are linked with my project could be corrupt?

System wide spell check
Dyslexic Helper is a spell check that can be used anywhere in windows.
I have a bit of a problem spelling due to my dyslexia, to help me with this I wrote an application that spell checks copied text. This application can be run anywhere in windows by a combination of keys or the application's menu, accessed via the system tray. Feel free to use this application as much as you like.
It is written using VB.Net as well as C# and the entire source is availble here, if you would like to see how it works. The spell check control I used is called NetSpell. I have changed this control a little bit but mostly just for looks. The system wide hot key control I found at The Code Project I modified it a little so I could change the hotkey at runtime and return the current selected hotkey as a text value.
Cheers,
Aaron

Why don't you post this as an article? Then it won't be buried in the flow of messages in the forum.
