if u are getting this value from database then use table's filed datatype as numeric(18,2)

Hi guys,
My web applications contains header,footer etc.which are going to be static. Only the body content of the page has to be loaded.Each time when i click the menu on the header entire page is loaded.I want my application to load only the page content while the header and footer remains static.
If there is any suggestions or coding for this please reply

Are u using master page in youe asp.net application ?
and for that u can use update panel of an Ajax. that will useful when u dont want to load whole page.
put contenplace holder in Update Panel.

Calling a page via menu will always load the page, even if it is the same.
The best way you can do is use AJAX with webusercontrol.

hi,
I have a page, which got be displayed when user selects view btn in the prev page.
So while veiwing the page all the controls(textboxes, ddls, lstboxes etc etc) all should be enabled false so that the user is disallowed modifications.
The only btn that shld be enabled is a 'return' button
How to achieve this!
Heard of ssomething like BasePage bs = new BasePage();bs.ReadOnly(this.Controls)... what is the use of this?

Dear gauthee,
If you can create a base page that also serves the same purpose.
But there is a way out using Javascript to disable all the controls ....
use "getElementsByTagName()" DOM function.
How to do it:
===========================================================
When all the control is rendered it generates HTML control in browser.
So in your rendered page you get
<input type="textbox" ....>
<input type="chekbox" ....>
<input type="button" ....>
instead of
<asp:textbox...> or <asp:checkbox...>
So you can write a javascript function that will
1. First collect all the IDs of controls having tag name as
2. Iterate through the array of IDs and set the 'disabled' property of all the control.
The javacript function may look like this one.
function DisableAllControls()
{
var arrControls = document.getElementByTagName('input')
for(int i=0;iterate upto arrControls.length)
{
arrControls[i].disabled = true;
}
}
When to call this javascript method:
===========================================================
When page has completed rendering process then this method must be called.
So at the end of your aspx page call this function to disable all controls.
Reusability:
===========================================================
The very same function you can use to enable all the control if you pass some true or false as a parameter to the function so that the sae function can be used for enabling or disabling.

True, this can be achieved with HTMl mail.
What you have to do is assign the content as a string to a variable and make it the body of the email. You can insert the value entered by the user in the string itself.
Eg:-
string str = "<html><body>Hai Friend. Your request has been received in the name of " + txtName.Text + " and we will get back to you soon<body><html>"
mailbody = str

I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 to develop the application. My issue is that i had to generate a Word Report with password from an ASP.NET web application.
After much try i got the dll Microsoft Word 11.0 Object Library and with the help of which i could generate a word document with password from a trial application. When i tried to implement the same in our project, it was giving an error as
'Could not open Macro Storage'.
The error code was 2146822307.
While checked up with the windows task manager it was taking a lot of memory.
When performed a search with this, i came to know the necessity of configuring the Word application with DCOMCNFG - as setting the word to be run under interactive user mode etc. But that is very risky as listed in the links,

Can any body tell me how to solve this without using DCOMCNFG ?
Or at the least is there any solutions to overcome the security issues...

I'm looking to using an Access db for the backend of a web event calender. I'd like to store images in this database, then at Run-Time pull the images from the database to be displayed on the web. My question is how to take the OLE Object and convert it to a JEPG, GIF or PNG file.
Planning on having an image.aspx?imageID= that will return in image to the calling site. Has anyone run into any information about this or what to google to research it. I've been coming up short.

Iam setting the persistent cookie to true in the following code.
FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(Id.ToString(),chkremember.Checked);
But then too remember me is not working.
If i open the application again then the startup login page is opened.
Can anyone help me in this

Hello,
I'm an ASP.NET newbie doing some minor changes to an existing ASP.NET 1.x website using VB. This site is a mess behind the scenes, with many unused pages, deadends, "test pages" and such. I'm not sure which bits are doing a job and which are surplus, so I have left it all as it is for now.
An example of one of the small validation tasks I want to do: in the shopping cart checkout sequence the phone number entry field is set to accept a solid sequence ("9786665544") instead of a more US-intuative sequence ("978-666-5544").
No problem, right?
I have searched for either inline code on the .aspx page, or a code behind page, but I have found neither. The pages seem to reference code-behind files that don't exist (i.e. " Codebehind="checkout_main.aspx.vb"").
I half-remember hearing that the site code can be compiled into the .DLL file so that the site will function, but no useable inline code or code-behind formats will be left accessable to people working on the site afterwards. Is this the case? It seems sort of like welding the hood shut on a car so one can't change the oil.
Is teher a way to "decompile" the DLL in order to get access to this code, or is it easier just to trash the old mess and start over?
