Thanks for ur reply. The problem is i have two links. On clicking one link i want my response to be redirected to the parent window and for the other, i want it to be within the iFrame. One more important thing here is, i have the iFrame defined in a different aspx page and this current page is opened within that iFrame.
Any suggestion to achieve this.

I have one doubt regarding view state.in our asp.net pages how we can keep view state value in a securely way like nobody else can access the site because view state value can be accessible to anybody ..can anybody help me..

before storing value in viewstate you can encode it and then at the time of retrieving value u can decode it.
for that u can use any algorithm.

You can secure your viewstate values by encryption (or) tamper proofing
To achieve this you need to include the following in your pages/application:
<%@Page EnableViewStateMAC=true %> ->this is tamper proofing

But i want to know how it help to secure ..usualy view state value is stored in base64 encoding and anybody can decode it also..using this proofing how it differ from the usual method....please explain a bit..

May be you are not passing enough number of arguments when calling the javascript function!
If possible post the javascript function you have written along with how you are calling that function from your application.

how do we display a imagebutton in asp.net.it does show a small box with a cross on it but doesnt display the image of the button.though the functionality behind the button wrks just fine.

the path that it allows me for picking the pick url is the folder in which the project is lying and even if the image is pasted in that folder still it doent show that image in pick url window for me to select it and if i write it myself then it gives me an error: image not found

You need to include the image folder into your web site and then include the image into you web site. If the image is out side your web site the web site doesn't have access to the image. Also if you don't include the image with the web site when you deploy the web site the image won't get deployed with it.

Change the tag's src attribute to point to the location of the image you want to display.
Another reason why it's not being displayed is that the path to the image may be wrong.

By the above statement I understand that you want to use Gridview.
To use it you just have to drag and drop a Gridview on your Design pane.
And then bind it to a datasource. That is all you have to do to make it work.

Hi,
I have an Asp.Net application that gets price feeds for different stocks via a dll-binary.
When running the application in visual studios built-in ASP.NET Development Server, it works fine, but when i publish the application the function that gets the feed doesn't work. To be sure i set impersonate to true and run as a local administrator but it still wont work.
What else is the difference between running an application in IIS and in visual studios built-in ASP.NET Development Server that could cause a problem as this.
Im thankfull for every tip i can get.

The problem is that the method returns 0 instruments instead
of 1 as it is supposed to. It executes the method so there doesn't seem to be an access problem. The object containing the method is a legacy com object. Could it be that IIS has problems running COM-objects.

Apparantly the COM object is listening on a port for incoming data.
could it be that IIS blocks the port. In that case is there a way to ublock the port.

if so, you can check your COM able to listen successfully on that port? or it's already registered by another program? or it's blocked by some firewall or something like that...only you might know

I forfot to say. But it works fine when i run in Visual Studio Built in Web Server, it doesn't work when i run it on IIS on the same computer. That means that there is some difference in the way the theese two web services works.
My thought was that there is a problem having a com object running in IIS that listens on a another port but i havent been able to find out.
