Hi
Hope you guys can help? I’ve struggling with this for ages.
I have this ASP.NET page that prints Labels/Barcodes to a local printer (BarcodePrinter1) – the user doesn’t get to select a destination, it’s hardcoded.
Now if that page is run over Citrix, then the hard coding fails, because the printer gets mapped to the Citrix session as (Client\\localcomputername#\BarcodePrinter1).
So what I was proposing was setting the localcomputername to the LAST computer from Active Directory, that the user logged on to.
That’s where I’ve hit my brick wall.
Can it be done? Is there another way to retrieve the users local computer name from the webpage, when this is run over Citrix? Can we determine whether the page is running from Citrix at all?
Any pointers/solutions would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks
Tony

I have a grid view that has a number of templated fields. The gridview is populated using a stored procedure. What I want to do is get the values in each cell in a row. But I am not getting any value from the cell. The simplified code is as shown below. Any idea why the code is not showing the value in the cell.
protected void dgPayment_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e)
{
try
{
string claimNo = dgPayment.Rows[e.NewEditIndex].Cells[3].Text;
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
ex.Message.ToString();
}
}

I noticed you are doing it from _RowEditing. Are you trying to get the new value or the value the user is editing? I think you can access something like e.NewValue to get the new value, but that is only available from _RowUpdating as far as I am aware. I am still pretty new to gridview myself.

Thanks for your response. I am trying to get the value the user is editing or the current value not the new.

how you're filling the gridview, if you are filing it in load event then maake sure you write that in
if(!page.ispostback)
{
fill data grid here.
}
in that way you'll get the value.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to ASP.NET and I am kind of stuck with a project that I am working on. I have 2 tables in my Access db, tblQuestions and tblResponses. For every question in the tblQuestions table, there are multiple responses. How do I pull the question's and include only the responses that are tied to that question (by QuestionId - Every response is tied back to the tblQuestions table by question Id).
Using VB.NET (NOT C#) as backend code
Example:
Question 1
Checkbox - Response 1
Checkbox - Response 2
Checkbox - Response 3
Question 2
Dropdown - Responses
Question 3
Radio - Response 1
Radio - Response 2
Radio - Response 3
I would really appriciate any help!
Thanks in Advance

It's clear that the tblResponse contains a code to help you group answers to each question. The design sucks, but that's your teachers fault. Please don't ask the same question in multiple forums, or cop an attitude because some one is trying to help you when you're not providing the information we need to offer you (free) help.

I'm sorry if I came accross wrong but I don't have an attitude I'm just trying to get help.
This is my first time posting. I'm new to this.
The reason why I posted it in 2 forums is because I though it was either an ASP.NET or VB.NET question.
The second reply came accross to me with an attitude by putting 2 faces.
That was uncalled for. Again, I was just trying to get some help.
Happy Day

Fair enough.
Which bit do you need help with ? Do you know how to build the ASP.NET pages ? Do you understand how the data is laid out ? The trick is to look for rules you can apply to the data, to get out the information you need. I'm thinking of the fact that you have three groups of answers, for three questions, and each group of answers has a different number next to it. It's a lousy design IMO, I'd have done a bridging table that allowed you to have 'yes' in the answer list once and reference it as needed, but the Id of 1 is the answers for the first question, 2 is the second, etc. Knowing this, do you know how to write the SQL ?
I assume this is homework, and it's therefore safe to assume that your teacher *thinks* she has given you all you need to do this. If we can establish which bits you're stuck on, we're happy to offer guidance, but we're definately going to err on the side of trying to help you work it out, and not writing the code for you, because the point of the homework is that you learn how to do this, not that you get it done, per se.

In GrdiView I have a text in a cell with a value "CLCA00090". I need to make a wordwrap in such a way the value looks "CLCA" in first line and the rest in next line.. How can I achieve this.. Currently it is a bound field..
|
|
|
|
|
I haven`t tried this but it may work out....
In the ItemDataBound event of the grid replace the contents of the desired cell
Try this...
eg: string a,b;
string str=e.Cell[0].text;
a=str.Substring(0,4);
b=str.substring(5);
str=a+" "+b;
e.Cell[0].Text=str;

Hi All,
I have an ajax page, In which When I select some thing from dropdown list the other dropdown list is filled acording to that selected item. Everything is ok but a lattle problem is that the other dropdown list is not filled. Although I m getting the Data. I m adding values to that dropdown list like this , Pls check it what is the problem in that. How should I add to that dropdown list.
function ClearAndSet(itemNode)
{
var stateNode= itemNode;
for (var count = 0; count < stateNode.length; count++)
{
document.getElementById("drpClass").value = stateNode;
}
}
Thanks in Advance.

I have absolutely no idea what that function does. It appears to iterate through an array? but it does exactly the same thing on every iteration?

First of all, don't call getElementById over and over. Secondly, when you do call it, check that it doesn't return null before you try to use the value.
Setting the value property over and over isn't going to add items to a list, obviously. There's tons of info on the web on this, this looks like a good resource, and it's he first hit I got with a google search:

Is it possible to define a namespace for the web page, that does not have a separate code-behind class?
If yes, how?

I have created a custom DropDownList in an attempt to extend the existing System.Web.UI.DropDownList in ASP.NET. In the implementation I have had to override Render and RenderContents while using some JavaScript to define the control behaviour. Everything is fine about the control and it renders properly on a 'normal' asp page until I take it to a page that uses a masterpage. Then it becomes distorted with the pulldown appearing some distance away from the textarea. Where should I start looking. The control's javascript or the masterpage.
