Hi all!
I had a doubt , Does images will be compressed while storing images in to the database?
iam using file upload control to upload the images into the database.
while uploading iam converting the image into byte streem.
AND ALSO TELL ME WHAT IS THE COMPRESSION RATIO(IF COMPRESSED).
AND TELL ME WHAT IS THE DEFAULT IMAGE SIZE IN SQL SERVER?
PLEASE GIVE ME THE INFORMATION.

If I were you, I would store the file location of the images rather then the actual images in the datavbase. You will very quickly find that your database size balloons.
Im not sure if it compresses them, my guess is they wont compress

Definately the best way. Also saves the work of getting them back out of the database and displaying them.

No they don't. You would have to run your own compression method on the byte stream before stored into the db and reverse for retrieving them.

The data that you store in the database will not be compressed, but for most common image formats (like jpeg, gif and png) the data is already compressed so you don't need any further compression.

Hi.
First of all I think that I have to let you know that I never made any page in ASP.NET
We are running a XML based site on the local network and I will create a feedback form with XSL.
We have ASP.NET 2.0 running on another network server and I'm thinking of making a script that can send the mail from the form.
But I have no idea if this works?
How do I catch the data from the form?
The form method is POST.

I guess you want to send simple e-mail using .net, try this:

That part is no problem, but I will use System.Net.Mail instead of System.Web.Mail that you linked to.
But how do I catch the POST variables in ASP.NET?
In PHP I can get them with $_POST['myFormField'] and I suppose that there are some way to get them in ASP.NET (C#) also.

you're probably bieng blocked by a popup blocker, IE has one built in and i've noticed that you can usually only open one popup, mabye 2 from a certain page. We have popup Help, and examples on our site and if you open help then try to view the examples, the code should open another window, but the examples page renders in the tab previously occupied by the Help. You could try disabling your popup blocker and see what happens, but i doubt you'd be able to get your users to do that for very long.

In that case i'm nto sure, i havnt been able to get our site to show more than one popup window/tab(IE 7) per page. are you trying to automatically popup the new window, or is it a link...ctrl+clicking the link may work(sometimes IE and MS products ignore user settings and do what they please anyway) My only other idea is to make sure the javascript is bieng called correctly, i've had functions not be called because i forgot a capital C in the event name, but all other functions worked and were set up the same way on different controls. Sorry i couldnt be more help.

Dim swrtarget As String
d.BaseStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin)
swrtarget = d.ReadToEnd
d.Close()
fs2.Close()

It looks as though it should work, but i dont use vb at all, If you are reading and writing to the file in the same method you could open the FileStream as Read/Write and just share the FileStream between the Reader and Writer. I've gotten this error when i've had a file open in notepad and didnt realize it(simple things are hardest to find) and when i didnt have write permissions to the directory for the IIS user. It could also be possible that the IIS worker process has the file for some reason and has not released it, it happens with some .NET files if you stop and start debuging sessions too fast in Visual Studio.

Hi all,
I have a custom composite (address) control that I have created.
I want to dynamically add it to a place holder on my page (append it to the end of the placeholder and keep the controls already in it). For this I am using a custom placeholder that persists the viewstate etc so that my control can be added repeatedly.
The problem is... My child controls in the custom address control are trying to re-use Id's that already exist? I am Creating the address control with a generic ID and adding the control number to it. The Child address controls 'should' be appending a substring to the end of the parent address control so that they are unique per address control.
What could be the problem? Does the order in which I add ID's both to the parent and child controls have a bearing on this?
I thought it would be nice and easy, but apparetly not...
Thanks in advance
