I think the best programmers are people who have life experience, have held more than one -type- (read 'type' as NOT more than one type of --programming-- ) of job and have been through life's school of hard knocks, instead of some book smart college grad who is wet behind the ears, but can code retinal scanning image routines in ten minutes. 


I've seen and worked with both types. At the end both groups work magics.
