Each month on the 7th the previous month's voting goes up. This is to allow articles posted later in the month to have a better chance against articles posted earlier in the month.
I saw your post here[^] and thought it would be a good idea to include the month we were in so that members and prize givers can see the competition for the current month was visible, even though voting and prizes are behind to favour fairness.
Thanks,
Sean Ewington

FYI
I don't know if this is a Code Project or Hotmail issue but about 45-50% of all e-mail notifications get read by Hotmail as Junk and filtered as such. This just started for me about 1-2 months ago and has been happening all the time for a couple days now.
I have always had the Code Project on my white list so I know it's probably not that.

I've got hotmail, and I've not had anything go into junkmail. I've got webm@ster@codeproject.com (note the first "@" is an a, to confuse spambots) in my "Safe senders" list, not my "Safe mailing lists"

Here's a weird one I stumbled upon...
1) Go to a forum (Found this in the Lounge, and also does it in Site Bugs)
2) "Pin" a message - Let's call this one Message A
3) Click another message (Message B) to open it
4) "Unpin" Message A. Both messages collapse/disappear
5) Open Message B (Takes TWO clicks to open it)... The subject bar (The darker blue around the subject/author/date) does not render for that message until the page is reloaded.
I would guess that some part of the scripting is losing the expanded/collapsed state of the second message in step #4, hence the extra click needed to open it.

Happens with IE 8 on Windows XP SP3 too.

This has happened with FF (and AFAIK all others) since pin was implemented; and has been reported repeatedly.

Really? Man, and I was all excited from discovering something new... Oh well... It should get a spot in the sticky thread, then, so idiots like me don't keep complaining about it

I'd settle for somewhere in the Fix This Month section of the internal bug tracker...

Hey, January is a great month and there is nothing to fix about it.
It's my birth month after all.

Hi,
I would find it useful if there was a function to add other members to a 'black list'. Any members that I add to my black list would have an icon (or something to identify) to show they are on my black list. Then I could know to remember I don't like helping them. My first addition would be the OP of this[^] thread.
Maybe another useful option would be to select if a black listed member is allowed to reply to any of your posts.
Maybe this is too much of a negative feature for your consideration, but I for one would welcome the option for when those really annoying members show up... perhaps a more positive version could be a way to rate how much you like a member (and how much you value there input)
Even further down the line could be a feature that sends a notification like the following...
Hi MEMBER,
musefan is in a jam, and you are one of his most trusted advisor's. Click here to help him out.
...obviously this would be overkill for the most liked members (perhaps they should accept if they receive S.O.S emails from fans), but it is just a thought for a more social experience with CP.
Thanks for listening (or trying to concentrate)

Something along these lines has been suggested before (several times I think).
And so far it hasn't been implemented so I wouldn't hold my breath,
you can however do this on your own.
Just maintain a list on your pc of members you want to ignore and have that list open when reading the forums.
After a while you'll know the names and won't even need that list anymore.

As long as you don't get awarded the fool status.
Don't get to emotionally attached to this site and how "it should be" because "should be" is not going to happen anytime soon. This site is an awesome site but take it for what it is.
There are a thousand and one fly by night assholes here looking for free handouts but I think that as I said before, someone was just having some fun. Could have been a senior member here for all we know.
My 2 cents worth of nothing.

A poster posts a question. You reply with a fairly insulting message. He gets snotty back at you. You now want a system in place to ignore him.
Can I suggest that if you had refrained from posting the reply that you did, and possibly downvoting if you felt the need, then you would have achieved two goals: No aggrevating discussion and you would have warned others away from the question. Hopefully others would follow suit and vote up / vote down questions, allowing you to then use the "noise level" system we already have in place to filter out the noise.

I am quite happy with the way CP already works at the minute. That's why I come here instead of other forum sites. I would never expect any suggestions I make in a so called suggestion forum to be taken into consideration by a standard user such as myself anyway.
Some people get nice replies and some people need to learn the hard way. It depends on how they post their question and what kind of mood I am feeling in. As you would have seen from his other replies, he was hardly making it easy to offer any help.
Chris Maunder wrote: No aggrevating discussion
I think heated debate can be beneficial in learning, sometimes you have to make your point strongly as for others to take it seriously
Chris Maunder wrote: would have warned others away from the question
Considering you don't see the rating until you expand the question, I think it is too late to be warned away. After all its only the subject that really draws attention, and if you see a question voted as one are you not more likely to read it to see why others thought it to be so bad?
And just for the record, my response is not meant to be taken as seriously as yours so I hope you don't feel in any way insulted of offended that I didn't just role over and accept my spanking.
