The first column (date/time) needs a whisker more width. "24 Jul 2012 10:50 PM" wraps.
FF 14, Chrome 20. (not a scoreline!)

I can't replicate the date wrapping. I even have a "nowrap" directive on the style that should stop this. Tested in FF14, Chrome 20 (Second quarter, semi final round)

Weird. All good now. FF, I cleared cache which might have updated CSS. Chrome, "virgin" copy on a different machine, now works.

This question[^] has two solutions offered. Solution 1 has a pale green header, although in the forum it does not show as answered. Is this colorisation a result of the number of votes, and is there a common rule for how this gets applied?
One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

Richard MacCutchan wrote: Solution 1 has a pale green header, although in the forum it does not show as answered
If you have 3 or more votes of 5 for an answer then it's highlighted with a light green header (not a solution but highly rated answer)
AFAIR, it's minimum 3 votes with minimum rating of 4.5 and the light green header starts appearing suggesting possible answer.

I posted a message to the lounge, http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/4319259/What-if-xkcd.aspx[^] and the post appeared on the page already down voted - which is odd because their was no time at all for a human to read it, let alone move the mouse and down vote.
A quick check on the rep events, and it looks like somehow posting this I managed to report myself as abusive at the same time as I posted the message...

Looks like that just happened to me as well: 4 actions at the same moment in time, exactly as above.

Happened to me, I was uni'd before my post showed up for me after I clicked "post". That is impossible.

Yours breaks the pattern, all the others were

b) Contained links
Well there goes both of those theories.

Same here. Responded to four messages and got down voted 4 times (-16 * 4)

We've just implemented an anti-spam system from a commercial provider. The content of new posts is passed through their checks ("hundreds of tests", they say) and out the other end comes a definitive yea/nay on whether it's spam.
It looks like I may have to cancel our subscription to their service.

The description "how to use this forum" could use some expansion - if you add that the report should include a link to the spam and the spammer then it would help to provide better info for us lot to review and decide if we agree it is spam.
We do get reports where the link to the spammer is provided, but either without a link to the spam, or after the reporter has deleted the spam itself. This means we have to work on trust to an extent, which is not ideal, unfortunately, or the spammer gets another chance to spread his drivel.

There should be a way to dismiss all forum notifications without having to visit each link.
I think this is important because if you get the forum messages in the email, then you've already seen all the replies, and so you would want to dismiss the notifications.
The difficult we do right away...
...the impossible takes slightly longer.

There is a way - it's just not officially sanctioned..
If you're using Chrome or FireFox, it's as simple as a user javascript - known as an extension. It loads straight into chrome, though you need the grease monkey plugin for it to work in firefox. I've removed the code from the script as posted, but it's trivial to remove those ads at the top and bottom of the pages too.
The easiest way to load it is to:
- save the code as removeCPnotifications.user.js
- copy the folder address from the location bar of explorer
- paste it into the browser address bar
- click on removeCPnotifications.user.js
- click OK for the security warning
// ==UserScript==
// @name CodeProject userNotifications Remover
// @description Removes annoying CodeProject user-message notification
// @author enhzflep
// @match http://www.codeproject.com/*
// ==/UserScript==
function byId(e) {return document.getElementById(e);}
// id of <span> tag to remove: ctl00_ctl00_MemberMenu_Messages_NotificationDiv or ctl00_MemberMenu_Messages_NotificationDiv
// it seems the ID of the span changes from page to page. These are the only 2 variants I've seen so far.
function removeNotifications()
{
// Hide User replies notifications
var spelling1 = byId('ctl00_ctl00_MemberMenu_Messages_NotificationDiv');
var spelling2 = byId('ctl00_MemberMenu_Messages_NotificationDiv');
if (spelling1)
spelling1.style.visibility = 'hidden';
else if (spelling2)
spelling2.style.visibility = 'hidden';
}
//fires off the function to start with
removeNotifications();
