Under 'Notifications', there is a check box, which when selected can be marked as read and also there a green tick mark to the right, which does the same job. Are these BOTH necessary? Could do with either of the two.

The checkboxes allow you to select a bunch at once, or they are used by the "Select All" checkbox at the top. This is useful when you're in the mode of thinking "let me collect together all the ones I want to mark as read in one go.
The green tick mark is, technically, not needed, but allows you to mark items as read in a casual, ad-hoc, disorganised manner.

Firstly this article on CodeProject - it's superb:

However the program doesn't work and there's no reply since 2010. Debugging it isn't straightforward due to the nature of the problem at hand, and there doesn't seem to be any way to contact the author...
Can the any admins send this guy a mail or something? Is that possible? It's a great piece of work that could be really useful and it seems a shame for it to be in this state.

Our only means of contact is that same as your means: their email address. When you post a message on one of their articles the message is sent to their inbox using the same email address that we would use if mailing them directly.
You may have to dive in, debug the code yourself, and then, if you're keen, post an update - maybe as an alternative article?

Ah ok I didn't know that re email comms. I'll post something on the project page for a start.
I had the feeling that I might end up fixing it. I've already done a bit of preliminary tracing, though it would be a bonus if the author is able to help. Current thoughts seem to indicate the memory allocator, it's interaction with the STL exception handler and / or the pointer stashing technique used and it's relationship with x64 arch. Some allocations work, some don't, and it's not an obvious bug at first glance - fun times...
Does CodeProject support any kind of mutual code collaboration setup? If not do people host code on bitbucket / github and reference it from here or whatever?

Absolutely. It's very easy to have multiple authors, each of which can edit and update the article and code.

One more thing - the project page has had quite a few code revisions, in the last on in 2004 the author added support for multiple memory spaces, and a lot of the demo code that sits above it is out of sync.
Do you guys on the site have backups of the previous code revisions? It might help in cross-referencing if and when the bugs got introduced.

Clicking on reply in a Lounge post does not do anything. (FF 10.0.7 <- Questions about that will be answered by our company IT policy).
Right-click / open in new tab works like a charm.
All other buttons/link work as well (/Edit: But for the ... Edit link  )

Neither works ( No dumb question, I hang around enough in Sugs&Bugs to know there have already been issues with that) in FF10.0.7
BUT
Both work in FF15.
I leave it up to you to decide if it is necessary to further investigate. ( With the new FF release rate, FF10 must not be older than two months though).

I'm happy for the poster to do this, but don't know what the implication are under the CPOL.
It was my intention to spin this out to a more-or-less proper framework myself but life has been getting in the way a bit for the last few months.

I've replied directly to the post and suggested a better approach is to create an alternative article that will be linked directly to your article. However, to answer the underlying question: as long as the author attributes the code to you, doesn't remove any of your copyright notices, and identifies that the code is under the CPOL, he's fine. That being said, it's your code and your article. You can assign the rights however you wish. However, if you ever feel that your code and/or article are being used in a way that goes against your wishes then we're happy to talk to those involved to get a resolution.

That information is not made available and is really of little interest. Accept that some people will downvote you for no apparent reason, and move on.
One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

I would think that the following simple rules should apply:
1. No reason, no downvote. This would apply across all of CP.
2. No downvote for OP of a question.

I may have posted something similar to this already, but I love Code Project's articles, i read several of them every day. I hate the website though. It looks like a bunch of random posts all grouped together, messy like. I know there is a system to it, but when I first look at the page it just looks like a jumbled mess, this thing where I have to expand a reply, and then expand another reply for one thread sucks. On my phone it really sucks. I like when a thread has its own page, or multiple pages, but that thread isn't mixed with another.

Look at the top of the forums (the orage bars with the drop down selectors), and go to "Layout" and choose a different one.

Not trying to be a troll or anything, I tried all the layouts. I just don't care for them. I'm glad Code Project took the time to provide different layouts, it's just not what I'm looking for. I think the 'preview' layout is probably the best, but still not it. uhm, again not trying to cause trouble, i am in no way affiliated with any other boards or site (except my own small personal site), but I was thinking of something like DaniWeb's. Not that they invented that style, it's just the only one I can reference right now. Thank you for the suggestions, I won't be talking about this anymore.  -Cj
p.s. - Still love the articles, and will continue to read them every day. (the good ones anyway :P)
