Use of the .live() method is no longer recommended since later versions of jQuery offer better methods that do not have its drawbacks. In particular, the following issues arise with the use of .live():
jQuery attempts to retrieve the elements specified by the selector before calling the .live() method, which may be time-consuming on large documents.
Chaining methods is not supported. For example, $("a").find(".offsite, .external").live( ... ); is not valid and does not work as expected.
Since all .live() events are attached at the document element, events take the longest and slowest possible path before they are handled.
On mobile iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) the click event does not bubble to the document body for most elements and cannot be used with .live() without applying one of the following workarounds:
Use natively clickable elements such as a or button, as both of these do bubble to document.
Use .on() or .delegate() attached to an element below the level of document.body, since mobile iOS does bubble within the body.
Apply the CSS style cursor:pointer to the element that needs to bubble clicks (or a parent including document.documentElement). Note however, this will disable copy\paste on the element and cause it to be highlighted when touched.
Calling event.stopPropagation() in the event handler is ineffective in stopping event handlers attached lower in the document; the event has already propagated to document.
The .live() method interacts with other event methods in ways that can be surprising, e.g., $(document).unbind("click") removes all click handlers attached by any call to .live()!

I cannot use designer and the Data View Web Part, which would ease the situation a lot...

Please clarify what it is you want to happen. Is clicking the back button resulting in a page you don't want, or do you want to make the browser go back from javascript? Or do you want something else perhaps?
It might be better to try and describe what it is you want to happen.

Why do you want to do this?
I'm not trying to be difficult - stopping the browser back button (which is what you are trying to do in effect) isn't 100% reliable, for example the client might have JavaScript disabled. What you are doing works against the browser's functionality and you are trying to stop a user doing what they want on their own machine. See http://forums.asp.net/t/989339.aspx[^] for a discussion and this[^] (which is quite old).
IMO it is more likely you should be handling this on the server and displaying something appropriate, even if it is just a message saying you can't go back.

Your question is not clear. Generally, on using browser back button page is reloaded from cache. If you want to handle this behaviour, following tip would help: Browser back button issue after logout[^]

Based on the forum picked, it looks like you are looking for a image slider or viewer that shows images randomly. If so, (even if not), the logic is to have a set of images and number them. Pick random number within the range 0 to total image count. Based on the number show that image. You can have a trigger of button or a timer to pick random numbers at intervals when needed.

Hi,
I want to generate random numbers in js from specific set of numbers iteratively e.g:
generate random numbers from array of (2,3,4) excluding 1 and next time from (1,3,4) excluding 2 like that. I have used Math.floor and Math.random()but they generate the numbers from given range like(1 to 4). What if i want to exclude any number or want to generate number from given specific set of numbers??
