|One-day technical workshop on April 24, will offer government IT professionals best practices for SOA workflow automation and governance using WSO2 middleware
Palo Alto, CA – April 10, 2013 – Today, most military doctrine is implemented through a set of sequential processes that are mapped and documented as workflows. Such doctrinally mandated workflows are found in areas ranging from aircraft, weapon and vehicle maintenance to medical services, payroll, personnel management, information assurance and fire support. However, the automation of these processes relies heavily on the automation and governance of workflow activities. WSO2 will address these challenges in a one-day workshop oriented toward defense acquisition managers and engineers, as well as industry systems engineers, architects and developers. The session will explore how to effectively optimize workflows and streamline operations using a service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure provided by the open source WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform.

Managing and Monitoring Workflow Interactions
The workshop is designed for government acquisition professionals, uniformed members assigned to acquisition commands, industry program managers, systems engineers, and architects. It will help them to obtain an understanding of best practices in workflow automation, governance and dash-boarding. Additionally, the session will provide a high level understanding of how SOA monitoring and governance tools both enable and empower the workflow to streamline and accelerate operations while reducing decision cycle time.
Key topics will include:
• Notional architectures for SOA workflow management.
• A demonstration of starting points and paths ahead for government and industry professionals seeking to gain insight into SOA workflow management.
• How the components of the WSO2 middleware (http://wso2.com/products/carbon/) platform can connect, mediate, orchestrate and manage interactions between workflow participants and artifacts.
As part of the workshop, a virtual machine will be provided to participants to give them experience in installing and running various portions of the WSO2 platform, including the WSO2 Business Activity Monitor, WSO2 Data Services Server and WSO2 Business Process Server.
