Except about Security Conscious, no - basically wrong on all counts.*

The corporate plot's really no secret:   make as much money as you can. That's the point of the business. It just so happens that they realize that personal information is very valuable and figured out how to harvest it; have enough computing power to correlate it; and then we're back to making money, again.

I don't avoid technology - but I also don't let it rule my life. Smart-phones? They own their users. Always having the phone in their face; texting at all times (even while driving!). They look at their little device strapped to their hip (feeling important) and keep looking at it hoping someone will validate them as a human being by texting them - or even a tweet. Micro$lut's Windows 10 even owns your computer for you! After you by the O/S, they tell you that they can access your PC whenever they want, download and modify the system, and you can't stop them. And A$$wipes, far and wide, buy into this.

So - you phone is pre-set to expose as much of your harvestable information as possible. Trying to disable it, assuming you even are even aware of it, can be quite a challenge as one goes down layer-after-layer (if they've even the wit to follow the path for setups).

So - back to the original premise: Apple's only concern for security is how it will impact sales and persist their phenomenal markups. If security and privacy were any concern to them at all, then their phone - and the applications they so strictly control - would all be opt-in for anything related to the user's privacy.

But guess what kitty - they don't do it that way. Shows you what your privacy's worth to them.
