That's the thing.

Until win 8, you could set the "window" colour (I'd call it the "paper" colour) to something less harmful to your eyes and headache-inducing, but they "fixed" that, so now you're stuck with white or black, unless you want to continually run .reg files to set a colour*, which gets reset to white at random intervals.


* You can actually set it once in the registry, then quickly save it as a theme, and reload the theme every time it gets "fixed", but I just keep a .reg file on my desktop.
