Had a flash back to the time I glued together plastic model airplane kits.
WW1, WW2, Korean War. British, American, Japanese, German, ....
I had a regular summer job and saved up to buy them one at a time. My friends did similarly.
We would hang them with thin string or threads for the ceiling in such a way as they looked like they were in combat. Is this still a hobby these days? My kids did for a while.

Serious question. I get the "general" nature of development things, but most of the stuff I've seen in the last few years - meh. It's all fluff.
Looking at my solid oak bookcase, I have about 40 books of various types on the shelves. In general, I have found the bookcase, my desk (lawyer sized solid oak), and credenza to be horizontal collection devices (think about that). About 1/3 of the books are cooking books - yes I'm getting tired of the tech, I'm seriously done with the tech BS. You youngsters are so screwed.
Going to donate them to the local high school...
Meanwhile, I'm just amazed at how us techies have moved on. I have not seen decent documentation since my openVMS days - and I KNEW where to find stuff in the large gray wall. Further, it was actually useful. Unlike the reprocessed garbage from MS. The last good book I read about MS was pure code related, but the name escapes me.
Pretty sure MS has an idiot AI generating "technical" doc for their products.

IMHO, as experience builds up, we ourselves become the "tech books" for juniors. They don't need to refer to manuals anymore.
For everything else, there's Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo.

Yes. Yes I do. In fact, I just bought several books on x86 Assembler, AAarch64 Assembler, Rust, and Python. I prefer having paper in front of me as well as online resources.
I also have kept all of my EE books (I specialized in communications systems in the microwave region) and my original notes from college (converted to searchable PDF) which have been more valuable in a lot of cases than online documentation.
That's just me though, I'm pretty old school paper and pencil when it comes to engineering stuff. I learn better that way.

I got it as a reclaim with the cover torn off so i never remembered the title.
Recently someone mentioned Choose Your Own Adventure books to me, and I immediately thought of the book I'm trying to remember, because it was a puzzle book in a similar vein, but much more in depth. You had to solve things, you even had combat at points if I remember? (but no dice to play - you just needed the book)
If you died you went to the astral plane, and you could solve/play to get back into the story, but I never solved it. There was a great wyrm. (Dragon - maybe more than one) I think there was a wizard.
It was darker than choose your own adventure stories, and had a bit of dark humor at points.
I remember the spine and the back of the book being greenish in paperback form.
I wish I could remember the name of it. It really was exemplar of the form.
If anyone has an inkling of the book I'm referring to suggest it here. I'll google it because I'll definitely know it when I see it.

at the level of stupidity I'm capable of.
I had been soldering a circuit board and before putting chips in place I hooked up power supply and got weird results, so I started tracking problem only to find out I had reversed leads on power supply. Duh
Have spent many hours residing our house and I'm exhausted. Replacing vinyl siding with Hardi Plank...big job but it's the last of the large house projects. Thank god!

I troll my neighbors with my SSID. I'm one of those people.
Did_You_Leave_The_Stove_On is a good one
At some point I want to rotate my SSIDs daily with something clever by tying them to the fortune app or something.
This seems like a good use of my time.

I liked Bloodhound Gang, mine used to be "Hooray For Boobies (.)(.)". The neighbours had a good laugh.
Son set it to "Robocop Charging Port".

I do too.
My phone's hotspot SSID is "Let's go Brandon!"
I live in a wildly liberal neighborhood.
"Wind chimes really?" is another.
I have an old router for just such billboards.

My router supports nine wireless networks, so I have fun with this weekly.
How about "We can hear you having sex" and "Mom - Click here for internet".

Doesn't that mean you have to update all of your devices that connect to it wirelessly? Seems tedious for a practical joke.
