i have used several list where storing data from large xml files. now clearing my list this way.
calling GC.Collect() at end of operation. please tell me is this approach is good or not ?

List1.clear();
List1.TrimExcess()
List1=null ;


List2.clear();
List2.TrimExcess()
List2=null ;


List3.clear();
List3.TrimExcess()
List3=null ;

GC.Collect();
