Inside an html document, what is it that is required to open a file when you clik a link or button?

a path to it

A link just needs the href filled out to point to the file (e.g. href="http://www.123.com/myfile.doc" ) but for a button you will need to use some JavaScript to redirect the browser to the URL (e.g. onclick="document.location = 'http://www.123.com/myfile.doc'" ).

Not that I know of, you have to use multiple file inputs.
Unless you want to use an ActiveX or JavaApplet in which case you can upload multiple files with "one" control.

I want to load all the images with the specific name and ended with a digit like image1.jpg, image2.jpg, image3.jpg, etc. The problem is that I wouldn't know in advance how many of them, so I just keep looping until I am told there is no more file.

I recall doing something like this before.
As long as you know the names of the files i believe you can use this technique on both server or client side.
The IMG tag has a fileSize property which is read only. So what I would do ischange the IMG SRC dynamically and capture the onload the IMG fires when it loads any image, etc. In the onload handler check the fileSize property. If it's Zero or negative (I can't remember) the file doesn't exist or didn't load properly.

That's one good technique but if it's used in a loop, the time it takes to load the image is certainly longer and the size it finds must be 0. How do I get around this?

It's the only technique you can use when all you have at your disposal is a javascript. If you can use PHP or ASP, then it's obviously much better to build the array of files and output them as an JScript array.
It doesn't sound like you can do this???

Get around what? The fileSize attribute should return the size in bytes of the file. If it doesn't, then something went wrong (i think)
One thing I do remember, is the IMG tag must NOT have it's dimensions set explicitly and I don't think it can be invisible.

perhaps if you explained what you want a little clearer, then you would get more positive responses. rather say too much than too little.

Start with a new host.
" The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. "

my problem is following: I have granted that client will use IE5.5 or newer, with Word installed. I am creating Word document in client-side VBScript, and I need to save created document on client computer. Of course I want allow client to choose directory and filename (Save dialog)... Does anybody know how to solve it? I know how to open Word with script, bt I can't figure out how to display "download dialog"... (Kinda opposite of input type="file")
quick response will be appreciated as I have to finish it tomorrow.
thank you,

I am trying to create an application ,a dynamic calender which allows the user to send/stick a note by picking the date from his calender like asigning a task or calling for a meeting Which should be notified as pop up's in others calender. Ofcourse the application's functionality looks very similar to microsoft's outlook . But i am trying to get the same feature done in my intranet application.

What are you using in the back end? ASP? .Net? PHP?
|
|

I am using JAVA/JSP as front end and oracle as back end
Thanks,

I did something similar to that. Kinda. In your database, make columns for day of the month, month of the year, and year. If you are specifying time as well, add a column or two for that. Each note you want to post is its own record as opposed to having all the notes for that day or whatever in one record. It makes it a lot easier that way. Then in JSP, figure out how you want them grouped, whether by day or whatever and design your query to gather everything for that group based on day, month, year, and time.
Unfortunately, I don't know JSP, so I can't give you exact code, but if you want more specifics on the theory I could send some pseudo code your way.

Dear All,
There is a Datatable with 20 records, not all records need to view on Datalist so I use ItemDataBound event to avoid some records, but the datalist render the cell for that record with no information.
Is there a way to also avoid rendering the container cell for avoid record.
Thanx for helping me...
|
|
|
|

I am not sure but I would advise you filter out the records you don't want displayed before databinding. Performance for 20 records may be fine but give it a couple hundred or thousand and you will have a problem on your hands.
